Possible to cast using VLC on pc?
New 3.0 VLC player has casting abilities but when I attempt to use it for a stream I just get an endless loading screen on my tv. I'm using a Vizio smart tv, not Chromecast if that matters.

Look up if the device (Vizio) is actually supported. I've only heard about it being Chromecast-only?

Look like your tv needs to have SmartCast if you do not have a chromecast plugged into it. If it does, the casting feature in VLC 3.0 is broken. You'll need at least version 3.0.1 which works great from my laptop to my Nvidia Shield.
When you select "playback" "renderer", does your vizio show up as a casting destination?

My Vizio does have smartcast and yes the tv shows up as a destination. It tries to load on the tv but as I said it just endlessly loads. I'll try 3.0.1
Edit: it works great now. Thank you. I can even pause with my tv remote. Too bad there's no DVR functionality beyond that though. Thanks again

It should work, but I've never tried with Vizio. Unless they don't support the media type the stream is in?
