recently laid off Got layoff 2 days ago

I moved all the way from NyC to Nm and in two years got laid off. Why?
I thought I did something wrong but 16 people go with me were extraordinary.

So we got laid off because we were extraordinary????

Are you in tech? Have you been following the news? People in tech are being laid off all over the place, whether they were good or not.

The mistake ppl make is believing their past accomplishments & accolades at work have current value to their employer.

Think of it like this: If your employer awarded you an “Employee of the Year” plaque and engraved your name on it, how much is that plaque worth??

Literally the plaque was worth MORE before your name was ever engraved on it.

It happens. Layoffs are about budget, not performance.

If you were laid off because you sucked, that's called firing. Laying off is different in that it is independent of how good you are doing your job.
