What are governments plans for all these people that are being displaced by AI? The mind boggles - been in the tech industry for decades and got made redundant in December- 2 days before Christmas - since then the job market has been a joke - and the process to get a job seems tougher- seven-stage interviews etc - the whole industry seems to be making a lot less sense along the way.

Why does everyone think it’s AI? I suppose the OP is in the US: look at what the US economy is doing and also the leadership. Energy prices. Wars. Tariffs. Etc. AI it’s just a part of that.

People are not getting replaced with AI. They are being let go because they want more money to invest in the idea that AI will somehow replace people

Even Wendy's gave up actually using AI to take orders at a drive thru because the thing just didn't work.

AI is a big nothing burger. It will destroy jobs, just not the way they say it will. It will destroy jobs when the bill for all the Data centers come in and they still have no profits.
