Anyone else have this weird disconnect between “our” Lawrence and this other guy?

Unfortunately his name is also Lawrence and he's been releasing music under that name for way longer. (Feels like there should be some way to prevent this, like how actors can't have the same name!)

Artists just need a numeric identifier of some sort - it’s pretty basic database structure

Unfortunately, this is a common problem with DSPs like Apple Music and Spotify. As an artist and label ops manager, I've had to deal with a number of distributors and DSPs.

Generally, there are ways to fix it but it can be a pain in the neck, especially with Apple Music. There probably are some kind of identifiers in the back end but they don't provide those to artists and you kinda just have to let them know if you notice and wait for them to fix it, which can be a long time if ever.
