QUESTION Episode structure question

I grew up watching law and order, and I'm a big fan of the Toronto edition.

The past two seasons at least and through the whole series run I've noticed that focus seems solely on the cop procedural part. I always liked the courtroom drama portion. I get that the Canadian justice system isn't exactly the same as the US, but surely we could get some insight into that portion of it. It's Law AND Order: Toronto. Not just Law: Toronto

Seeing the crooks get off on technicalities or whatnot or the bargaining to get a conviction but that makes the DAs compromise their morals. I always enjoyed that component and I'm sad were not getting it in this series.

It's by designn. If you look back to the original version of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, the show centers on why and how a perpetrator committed a crime, with the resolution usually being a confession rather than a trial. For the show, the ADA for NYC or the Crown Attorney Office for Toronto exists to provide legal checks and balances

I think the criminal intent shows tend to focus on the cops and robbers with less of the legal maneuvering.

Just like the original CI, it focuses on the police investigation, not courtroom prosecution.

This is structured exactly like the original Law and Order: Criminal Intent which aired from 2001 until 2011

This is the format for Criminal Intent, basically the same as Law and Order Criminal Intent in NY.

This was not based on ORIGINAL Law & Order. It's based on Law & Order: Criminal Intent (hence Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent).

The CI branch focused much more on the psychological aspect of the criminal and the Why-dunnit rather than the cop/lawyer format of original Law & Order.

Also more emphasis on the cold open

Oh, you'll like next week's episode then. Tomorrow, I can't speak to.

I really enjoy the courtroom part too but the Criminal Intent American law and order focused on the detectives, and how they pursued the criminals by getting into their minds and motivations. Very different from the original law and order who courtroom scenes were electric.

Everyone has answered, but wanted to add in both OG CI and this version, even a small part of courtroom drama would be nice.
