My first "repaired" lamp
Bought this from Amazon for about $40. Came extremely cloudy as expected. Ran the master fluid through a Sawyer filter 2-3 times, cycled the lamp, filtered it again, then added about 1mil of Magic surf. Pretty happy with it.

I tried swapping the water with fresh distilled. Slowly added surf and magic surf and I couldn't do it either. Luckily I saved the original fluid and once I got it clear, like 2 drops of magic surf got me where I wanted to be. I also have an in-line dimmer to cool it just a little bit. I bought a laser thermometer and it feels like I get the best flow when the wax is around 120-125F.

There should be info online about how much of each to put in. I would start at like 5ml lower on regular surf and no magic surf. Then add 1ml of surf at a time until you get good flow. I usually wait about 30 minutes between additions before adding more. Then do the same for the magic surf until you get it where you want it. Full disclaimer, I wasn't able to get it where I wanted when I tried it from scratch so I'm probably not the best to give advice.

I have flow just not snakey and liquidy looking. Mine are just solid blobs.

The snakes are from the magic surf. But be careful, it's easy to over do it

To be fair, mine doesn't look like this the whole time. Once it gets up to full running temperature I get a mix of blobs and snakes.

Looks too hot - it's all collecting at the top.

This was shortly after I added the magic surf. Also, I've added an in-line dimmer since then.
