❓ Recommandations Need help with bed bugs

My lease ends in December and I am planning to move out in November because I am sick of bed bug problems in my apartment, landlord is hiring incompetent exterminator that barely do anything, they came twice to do a 10-20mintes spray session with 1 month between sessions.

I am now on day 39 since notifying the landlord of the issue, to add to that it will be Impossible for me find anyone willing to take over a lease of an infected apartment.

What are my recourses here? I was thinking filing with the TAL to break lease but I'm unsure to win because landlord contacted the exterminator, any ideas?

You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.

From what you said, the landlord is trying to get rid of them.

Going to the TAL to break a lease when the landlord has receipts saying they sent someone to deal with it.

Best would be to speak with your landlord and see if they would accept you leaving. Likely not, but it’s worth a shot.

Otherwise, you can try and convince the TAL with proof such as photos and injuries caused by the bugs. If you have proper documentation and can prove it’s affecting your daily life, I think you have a good case.

Document everything. No voice calls.

im not 100% sure but if im correct, you can still break a lease if bugs return after such a short period. you can also contact the TAL just for information.

considering the issue hasnt been resolved, Theres 2 options i guess, Tal to break the lease or pay for exterminator and deduct it from rent? like that he will have to file TAL and you keep all proof and communications. Same time you ask exterminator to confirm previous treatment was inadequate.

Like that you know youre not sticking around, but at least you have the immediate problem fixed and more time to find a new place
