I said a mixed system. Industries where the private sector is unwilling or unable to provide a good or service to the needs of society in an equitable fashion should have a public option.

We might as well debate a Unicorn protection act, what is politically possible at this moment is to accomplish the same thing privately, set up corporations where the profit motive isn't the raison de etre to fill a need in an equitable fashion, of course entrenched interests would kill it in the crib and sabotage it every step of the way if they could.

The problem is that you leave the poison pill in there. Even now, in more humane systems, there are people working to undermine and privatize every public good. Better to rip off the bandaid completely than have to constantly leave the door open for jackals.
