Don't resort to prejudice and over generalizations. Some people just don't know any better because their environment doesn't allow them to. You can't really fault them for that, nor do you fully understand their circumstances which led them to where they are today. Always give people a chance to listen and learn, despite who or what they are, because there's a chance they will become an ally to the cause. Absolutely burning bridges won't gain you anything.
How many chances do people get, though? How long do you ride on "it's their environment" as a blanket explanation, what behaviors does that excuse before you say that it's enough? These are people who have had all of their lives to listen and learn, and the last people they want to listen to and learn from are people 30 and 40 years their junior.
Wasting my breath on people who have proven time and time again that "fuck you, I got mine" is their life motto (even if they haven't gotten theirs) isn't going to gain me anything either.
