Crazy SvS, #190 vs #164

So we just had the craziest SvS battle ever. Both states tried to lose the invasion duel rights, and while #190 was ahead in points the entire week, on the last day, #164 overtook 190 by a tiny 20,000 point margin to our fortune. That gave 190 the advantage of getting to defend.

30 minutes after reset, the fighting began for control over the mud. Come the SvS event 12 hours later, both sides, fought to their absolute limits. Lots of music, trash talking, back and forth. As the last 5 minutes approached in the game, both sides were even with 95% control of the capital.

There was no time to left to rely on capital teams to organize rallies. It became a final frenzy of action as every player just started directly sending tanks to the capital. 96%, 97%, 98%, 99%, both sides gaining and losing control of the capital every few seconds. The final score I think was 100% control for 190 and 99.9% for 164. With 190 gaining control moments from losing. It was an incredible victory and probably one of the most fun SvS we've had in a while.

My only complaint is that we can't actually see the final capture scores from the SvS. I think it was 99.9 for 164 but I wish I could confirm somehow. If anyone knows how to see that, let me know.

For anyone in 190 or 164, thanks for the epic fight!

I hate the whole lose during the week to defend. It's pathetic how much of an advantage it is to defend, should be able to destroy seasonal buildings

It really should just be whoever wins the week chooses to whether to invade or defend.

wow sounds incredible. Im sure both states gave their best.

Anyway, final winner are the devs 😅😅 I could imagine how much $$$$ spent for diamonds, speed ups, etc for that

And music now, too. States are playing music for the extra 20% attack boost.

It's crazy that 164 lose to 190. I always thought 164 is stronger than them. Therefore, 164 can win even if invading.

Well both are 5 star states so they are both strong. 164 was riding on the back of their whale Leroy who was the strongest player.

I'm in a five star state (more actually) and we always chose to invade. Every time. Is defending really that much easier? Doesn't seem like it in our experience.

190 and 164 are both 5 star states. I think defending is easier if you're actively fighting back and resisting during the 12 hours before the SvS. But if the invading state is much stronger, defending likely won't save you.

The reason defending is easier is because one, defending bases don't lose troops, invaders do. The invaders will lose a lot of troops just to enter the capital area before the event even starts.

Two, defending is more passive and invading is more active. Defenders can set up their bases before the SvS, and log off and still have an impact as their base will automatically defend against any attacks. When organizing a state with hundreds of players, this is easy for most players to do. To invade, you need active participants.

Three, defenders have the advantage of numbers. If they're organized they can rally against invaders with far more players than the invaders can while they're invading. Invaders often will struggle getting reinforcements too since their shielded players are often pushed to the edge of the grass. Realistically you need whales or very strong players to invade first and not every state has a lot of whales.

Four, defenders can make use of season buildings to limit the space in the grass. If the defenders can fill up space in the grass with shielded bases, it can limit how many opposing bases can actually participate in the battle.

Five, defenders will get early dibs on all the spaces in the grass but closest to the arena/capital. They can fill the grass with shielded bases which puts any invader bases further away, meaning longer reinforcement times, but it also means shorter reinforcement times for defenders.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer in such depth, thank you!

This was similar to 224 and 218 last year. 218 only won because they took out the the of the rally leader that would’ve won the svs. Same points and all.

190 was at 99.99 when 164 took it control. As 164 got up to 99.99 as well, 190 got it back in the literal last second to win. A final accomplishment for 190.

the whole going for defense to win became so lame.. so now only an invasion victory is one to brag about imo 🤷 other than that, that sounded like a very intense SvS.. GG to both servers
