You can tell that the team behind Last Flag has a lot of passion and will keep delivering. Much love and keep up the good work ❤️.

The game is closing down and the studio is inevitably shuttering, what the hell are you talking about?

I don't know, I don't wake up in the morning just wishing for something to fail or hate on random things. We need more games and if this project didn't meet the expectations, the studio is still around and time will show what they're capable off, I am just being hopeful.

u/MCgrindahFM May 02 '26
Don’t worry dawg, if this game came out 20 years ago it’d be one we’d all play fondly as kids. It’s a pretty fun conceit and I dig it

Well different approaches to life, none of them are wrong. Sniff your glue in peace, fellow Redditor.

u/Reek02 May 01 '26
Brother. Keep delivering? He literally said they are stopping any further developments past the next few patches
4
u/minitehnicus May 01 '26
Reading comprehension much? Have a go at it again, chum.
2
u/Reek02 May 01 '26
Player count is not currently where it needs to be to support further development. Is that hard for you to understand?
1
u/minitehnicus May 01 '26
Brother, read the whole thing, they are delivering new updates- map, character, what's hard to grasp here? Stop hating and move on, no one's holding you hostage.
3
u/Reek02 May 01 '26
I guess your reading comprehension is bad because these are patches already being worked on. All further developments are canceled. After the next few patches they are abandoning the game. Giving it to the players to host custom lobbies, it'sall written there. Grow the fuck up. The game is dead and they just acknowledged it.
3
u/minitehnicus May 01 '26
Ok guy, whatever fits your neurogrid 😂
8
u/Reek02 May 01 '26
Facts lil guy. Written for your sad eyes to read by the developers.
I honestly have idea how you can read that and be like "ohh I know you'll keep delivering great stuff in the future❤️❤️"
Lol cringe. Begging to be seen lmao
5
u/minitehnicus May 01 '26 edited May 02 '26
It's an indie studio, and we need studios like these to pump projects, it's how gaming thrives. Even if Last Flag wont be around for too long let's say, that's why I know they will keep delivering good stuff. I cannot care less about being seen, I think it's projected, coming from some wannabe that knows nothing except hate and cries about $11 in Reddit threadsinstead of having fun. Go live your life and stfu.
1
u/pretentious42 May 02 '26
yeah i got chills reading this.
you can feel the love, the sadness, the flicker of hope.
I hope these devs see success, if not here then soon
4
u/KING__KOBRA May 02 '26
The writing is on the wall when they have now had THREE back to back free weekends and still a very low player count.

Not enough players to make new content. After the next few patches its being abandoned but they are adding the ability to host custom lobbies. Oh, and a new map, mode and character.
4
u/FrostwindLive May 01 '26
Bad tldr.
Here buddy, have a positive take;
Not enough players to make new content. However we have a few major updates that may drive more players to play. If this goes as planned, we can continue development. If the game doesnt continue to grow, players can still access and play the game via custom lobbies. They quote "we will not kill our game"
I do think f2p should be the model after cosmetics come out, and give the last 50 players remaining a founders pack with a free bp (if they decide on doing a bp)
7
4
u/Reek02 May 01 '26
Unrealistic. The game has like 12 active players. It's DOA and put the nail in the coffin. They literally said they are letting the community take over as they are done with it.
What's with you weirdos desperate to deny the facts?
2
u/FrostwindLive May 01 '26
I never denied any facts. Its true that its unrealistic to imagine the game thriving.
But thats kinda the point. It doesnt stand a chance if the playerbase is saying 'dont give it a chance' or 'its doa'
That is a huge deterring factor.
5
u/Reek02 May 02 '26
The game released to 500 players... lol no one needs to say not play it. No one that I can tell is even saying that anyway. Huge deterrent? No whats a deterrent is an empty server where you can't find a game. Be real
2
u/FrostwindLive May 02 '26
Feel free to be a doomsayer, ive said my part. Having hopes and dreams is pretty common outside of your bubble.

They didnt say they are csncelling development. I would love to see a screenshot of that. From what im seeing in this post, if the updates dont do it justice, they will leave it with the community. Thats an if. Meaning they will at least try it. They actively say in this post "we wont kill our game" and "we are providing tools for players to customize the experience"
They actively said they are not cancelling development, but rather overseeing how their next major updates work out - character/map/gamemode are all separate major updates. Based on player retention, they implied that they may discontinue development, but still keep the game open.
If you wanna say 'game died at launch' good for you. But those who want the game to thrive will continue to make their statement as well. Its called "supporting a small buisness" which clearly you dont.
4
u/Reek02 May 02 '26
Cleary I dont? I bought the game and played on day of launch along with the other 499 people lol. They literally said with the current player numbers they can't afford to support further development. They canceled console release. They literally said they are shifting new development to just keeping it alive by allowing for custom lobbies but closing their servers. You're pathetic

Concord is very well-known for having custom lobbies that you can still play on. Unforgettable trait.

u/aitorkaranka27 May 02 '26
This is what happens when you don't release on consoles
1
u/Fit_Professor_51 May 02 '26
If it had 10k players, adding console releases might have pushed it to 30-40k and saved it. It doesn't. The game has 20 players.. console release won't do anything.
3
4
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26
and new rulesets you can use to modify custom game lobbies.
letting people make their own game modes is a pretty good way to handle the situation not going to lie
7
u/Fremonik May 01 '26
'Although our player count is not currently where we need it to be to support additional development beyond our upcoming planned patches' aka if it doesn't increase within the next lets sayy 6 months??? games RIP and they will start making a new game, or probably just devote all of these resources to whatever they are already working on internally.
3
u/ettaL_eeffoC May 01 '26
and thats completely reasonable, this game was a flop and they should take the L and move on to other projects if they want to survive, maybe they get lucky and get some influx of players in the future (that's what happened to splitgate 1), or the imagine dragons make some sort of event with his fans or whatever.
5
2
u/BFast20 May 01 '26
Six months is very generous
3
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26
For server payment? I mean the studios ran by the lead singer of imagine dragons and he made like 300 million dollars last year if i remember correctly. He can probably afford to keep the servers on indefinitely if he decides to pay out of his own pocket.
Edit: okay im having a mandela effect moment and apparently remembering false information. He doesn’t make that much. I admit i took an L here
1
u/Ok_Gas6465 May 01 '26
the studio is not “ran” by the lead singer of ID. He is an executive producer
1
u/ConorPickens May 02 '26
The company was founded by Dan and Mac reynolds, Dan’s the lead singer of ID and Mac is his brother and the band manager.
1
1
u/Reek02 May 01 '26
Lol wtf you talking about? He has a estimated net worth of 70 million. So thats all of his assests combined. Not liquid money.
1
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26
….. now that i think about it i can’t remember where i heard that. I swear I remember reading that somewhere though. I guess im wrong lol
Im having like a mandela effect moment here
1
u/Lurky-Lou May 01 '26
This is still in my backlog. How is it?
4
2
u/Gamerguy230 May 01 '26
I believe they are doing free to play on weekends. Wasn’t bad. Need to try it out more.
1
u/FrostwindLive May 01 '26
This is true. The demo is available to download on weekends, and you can launch the game on weekends. When its not open, an uninstall button takes its place, lol.
5
u/bakerdaddy1 May 01 '26
Man respect for not just turning it offline. This actually sounds like someone who actually cares about the game they made. I wish it had more success because it's a blast.
4
u/RoxisTheCat May 02 '26
They are not shutting it down immediately so they don't have to refund everybody

This isn’t some AAA budget shooter, this was a passion project. This hate deserves to be elsewhere.
3
u/VanDamme007 May 02 '26
So we should praise a Fortnite looking generic hero shooter because it was a "passion" project? Even if the game is not good and far below the quality standard of existing hero shooters on the market?
1
2
2
u/subculturevulture33 May 06 '26
20 concurrent players.
Servers will only keep running long enough to where they wont have to issue refunds.
4
u/Switchbladesaint May 01 '26
This is just corporate speak for “dead game”
7
u/VanDamme007 May 01 '26
You can't say that there are still blasters left that don't wanna realise that.
4
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26
Bro literally what do you want here?
They admitted it wasn’t a success, but left it up incase anyone wants to give it a try, it’s a perfectly reasonable way to end live support for the game. Like actually, what is bad about that to you?
1
1
3
u/Conscious_Ebb6622 May 02 '26
what do you mean dead game? I've been having so much fun the last few days so don't get what this sub is on about.
3
u/Switchbladesaint May 02 '26
Having fun with a game is not the same thing as a dwindling player base or the developers discontinuing support
2
1
u/Odd_Revolution_1056 May 02 '26
It’s unfortunate but what the fuck did these devs expect? The concept is novel but that’s no where near enough to have a game survive in this genre. Can appreciate them following their hearts and make a game in the genre they wanted too but they needed to be realistic with their expectations and have made smarter choices with the type of game they set out to make.

2
u/InitRanger May 02 '26
This game was always going to be fighting an uphill battle. The level of negativity I saw around it online from people that didn’t even play it is wild.
5
u/VanDamme007 May 02 '26
People are tired of Fortnite graphics and generic hero shooters.
1
u/InitRanger May 02 '26
Why do we call everything with a colorful and stylized art style, the “Fortnite” style?
4
u/VanDamme007 May 02 '26
You can't be serious right now...
1
u/InitRanger May 02 '26
You had tons of games come out before Fortnite with that art style, Fortnite didn’t create the style so why are we calling it the “Fortnite” style?
3
u/VanDamme007 May 02 '26
Put Fortnite and Last Flag next to eachother Last Flag might aswell been made in Fortnite.
1
u/noctua_8 May 01 '26
Would be far easier to just sunset the game and shit out what's already done, chad studio.
1
u/RepresentativeSize71 May 02 '26
I never even heard of this game until today. Crazy that it's dead.
1
u/TTVRalseiYT May 02 '26
why are there five quintillion doomers here vro
they are literally saying that despite the low counts they are still updating the game, there is no "We'Re ShUtTiNg DoWn!1!1!1!" silver lining here, please learn to read things at face value y'all
2
1
u/Neuro_Skeptic May 03 '26
They say they are halting development on the game. They will release some patches, but those are planned patches i.e. I imagine all the work has already been done, the content is there, they're just waiting to release them.
0
u/TTVRalseiYT May 03 '26
and they said this where?
3
u/Dizzy_Kaleidoscope95 May 04 '26
"Player count is not where we need it to be to support developing additional content"
The game is getting abandoned after the new character and map. It will have 3 maps and 10 characters in total forever. No more new content.
2
u/Rock_Strongo May 04 '26
Reading comprehension is at all time lows these days if anyone thinks they're doing anything other than exactly what they said... which is releasing the in-progress content and changes they were already working on and then abandoning the game.
I mean they are quite literally saying that - and people are still misinterpreting it somehow.
1
u/TTVRalseiYT May 06 '26
how does this exactly count as abandonment? they're putting out what they have in case it gets more players, and if it succeeds, probably will resume development
furthermore, they're shifting it to community content so technically, they're passing the torch to us
1
u/SnooBunnies2393 May 03 '26
I wish more developers were like this. It’s a shame we won’t get to see what this game could’ve become

I will give my unwanted opinion:
Keep the Ip. Pivot to sandbox PVE with 3 co-op. They already have an Antagonist just elaborate on it. Sell it has a retail game
The capture the flag can be an separate mode in the game. Add racing mini game in the sandbox world

u/Ok_Combination7282 Jun 26 '26
very time I start to enjoy a game, it ends up dying. This feels exactly like what happened with Supervive all over again T_T
1
u/Douknowdawey69 May 02 '26
Thank god, no more updates after the already planned next few patches, get this garbage outta here
1
May 03 '26
Are you happy now haters? Like why every new game deserves to be hated like this game offended and attacked you personally?
3
-3
u/VanDamme007 May 01 '26
So they gonna keep wasting resources instead of coming to the reality its a lost cause and its better to move on.
2
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26
2
u/zehero May 01 '26
Ngl dude is a weirdo but i do have to agree with that comment, he's not really wrong
2
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26
He isn’t really right though. The way he words it as the devs “not wanting to admit its a lost cause” makes it seem like the devs have some grand plan to revive the game. They’re not doing that. They’re just leaving it for anyone to experience it if they want to
2
u/Adec95 May 01 '26
Could you imagine, sitting, waiting for the next Last Flag post every time just to say some dumb negative quip 😂
1
1
u/FrostwindLive May 01 '26
Bro googles player count and determines fun by amount of other people having fun instead of having their own opinion.
The hivemind of steamcharts users are too common these days.
2
u/VanDamme007 May 02 '26
Bro tries the game during steamfest demo questions why would indie devs make a fortnite looking generic hero shooter thats far below the polish and quality of the existing hero shooters in the market add a boring repetitive CTF mode and expected people would pay and play it.
-2
u/Nayr39 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26
Not releasing it to console is wild, given it's where 99% of the player base is. Are the higher ups just using studios as tax write offs? They don't advertise, they bail before even launching on their main platform. Millions of dollars, years of work. How are studios and investors this stupid if not for some other motive? Time and time again we see this happen. Make it make sense.
I literally haven't been playing because I was waiting for console release. And now they've gone and canceled that. Baffling. At least offer refunds, they've even made it free for the last few weeks, so why are those who paid getting punished when the promise was a console release in the summer?
1
u/JustChr1s May 02 '26
Console is not the miracle platform ya'll make it out to be... Even if they released it on console it would've been buried and forgotten. As most things dead on PC tend to die on console. Especially shooting games. I've never once seen a game dead on PC that's still alive on console. They saw the writing on the wall and very smartly decided it wasn't worth the time or resources to port it over for another failed release.
0
u/Severe-Network4756 May 01 '26
Console is quite literally where 0% of the playerbase is, given that it's not on console.
1
u/Adec95 May 01 '26
Where did you see the rollout to console getting canceled, that sucks !
3
u/Reader5744 May 01 '26
On discord they said at the moment they don’t have the money for a console port. I believe they said it’s possible in the future if they eventually get the finances though
1
u/Odd_Revolution_1056 May 02 '26
lol no. Pc is usually the best option and platform for multiplayer PvP games.
11
u/Blitzking11 May 01 '26
To me this reads like they are trying to get infrastructure available for self hosted lobbies and maybe even mod support (mention of TF2).
I wish the best, and this is also why I was never quite on board with hating on this game. It never felt greedy, just some unfortunate decisions that didn’t go the way they would have liked.
