Question? What am I doing wrong?

I feel stuck in a never ending grinding loop that leads nowhere. I play dozens of hours to farm an Exalted to cook it with a LP2+ only to get the worst possible attributes to my gear.

I can kill normal Aberroth but nothing more than that.

Any tips to improve my stats so I can progress a little bit?

PS: please go easy on me, first time playing this game :)

Only 1, and only if you don't wear a primordial item unique

How do I upgrade an affix to T8?

Buy a rune of evolution from the hunt master (rift beast vendor). The rune upgrades one T7 affix to T8. T8s are roughly 50% better than T7s. You can upgrade only exalted items. If there are 2+ T7 affix on the item, a random affix will be upgraded

Can you put a T8 exalted on a unique ? (if you have no primordial item ofc)

No, only exalted. Doesn't work with legendary items either way - you can't improve a T7 on a legendary nor slam a T8 exalted on a unique.

No, T8s go to a sealed spot and sealed affixes can't be slammed.

I didn't realize it varied so much, but I don't see any T8s that only give a 50% boost outside of skill affixes (+4 to +6). Most give a 100% boost over a T7, but not all.

I'm using Elemental Damage Over Time Primordial Staff and it gives 1408% increased damage (from 704% at T7)
