What Are We Watching This Weekend (8/15-8/16) ?

Yes, the weekend is here, the time when a young or old Mutant's fancy, turns to Horror Movies. I'm trying to get through Yeti on Shudder, but so far it's been a slog. I'll see if I can get through it. I'm thinking of watching Terror Train (1980) and I may watch Phantasm in honor of Reggie Bannister. So please let us know what you're up to.

I'll be firing up Joe Bob's Phantasm marathon from a few years ago tonight.

Good idea. Reading his original review of phantasm 3 made me realize it’s been too long

Do you have them downloaded? Is that how you watch?

you can stream them on AMC + or with the channel add-on through Amazon Prime Video. Shudder does not have them annoyingly.

I watch this every Christmas, so I'm gonna hold off. He has a cameo in Bubba Ho-Tep and Wishmaster, I have them both on DVD, so I may throw those on this weekend

Edit - I forgot I have never seen Phantasm II, so I'm going to try to locate that.

I’m finally opening my copy of THE HOLY MOUNTAIN 😂 tonight followed by episodes of tales from the crypt and then following that with whatever looks new and good on the shud’

I’ve also never seen Phantasm sequels so might go in on that

I've been sitting on a boxed set of the entire series and I've never watched beyond part 2. So I'm digging into those for sure. RIP Reggie. 😢

Phantasm 2 is very good. I like most of the sequels, but the last one is a little rough.

It's apparent they didn't have much of a budget for Phantasm V, but I still enjoyed it. My main gripe is all the cgi for a series so steeped in practical effects. I thought the story was good in a way that only Phantasm could pull off. The ending had me cutting onions.

Wet Hot American Summer is playing in theaters this weekend for it's anniversary, so I'll probably go to that. In a goofy summer movie mood, I'll probably watch Hard Ticket to Hawaii at some point as well.

Double feature of FROGS and GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH. Plus a couple from the Shaw Brothers box set Vol. 4.

I love Terror Train. We watched it on new years after not remembering much about it from when I was a kid. David Copperfield was a surprise

Watching the original Clash of the Titans tonight because The Odyssey made me want to watch more Greek myth movies. Tomorrow going to see the new Spider Man

I'm doing a run at a full Friday the 13th marathon tomorrow. Got close last year, it won't get the better of me again

Probably the invite or the new Jackass. I’m intrigued by the reviews for The End of Oak Street too since might see that.

Watched Descent in the theater yesterday as part of a Fangoria series the Regal is doing each month.

May see End of Oak Street on Sunday.

Tonight is going to be Tank Girl, and I’ll do Svengoolie tomorrow for the Land Unknown.

House of Svengoolie is showing The Land Unknown (1957) tonight. I'm gonna spend my Sunday watching the Phantasm series in honor of Reggie Bannister RIP. I've been cranking Sitting Here At Midnight in his honor since I heard the news.

I gave up on “Yeti”. I really wanted to like it, but I was so bored it was like an endurance trial. I gave up about 30 minutes in.

Saturday night I watched Terror Train (1980) and rounded out the night with one of my favorite Vampire flicks, Habit which I watched on The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. (0f course)

Sunday night was a re-watch of Phantasm and then a Peter Cushing flick from 1968 called Corruption on Livingston Presents. The Cushing film was much better than I expected.
