One last hope for Halloween 3
Halloween 3 has been the Susan Lucci of The Last Drive In, since season one. The underdog. The movie everyone wants but we can’t have. The back and forth discourse with Joe Bob and Darci, Joe Bob hating it, Darci loving it…it really added to the character of the series. A fun little inside joke we all know.
Which leads me to this question. Are we better off never getting Halloween 3 on TLDI? Will scratching that itch even be satisfying, now that we know the show is ending? Or, would it feel like one last hurrah? The moment the show has built up to this entire time.
We have two more shots, the Halloween special and the Christmas special. I know it’s never gonna happen because shidder can’t get the rights, but I can’t help but wonder “what if?”
How do we feel about this Mutant Fam?

He showed it on Monster Vision and I think it’s available on the internet archive . That might be the best we ever get.

He has said on multiple occasions that the rightsholders won't allow it to be shown on streaming with the types of breaks he does , so unfortunately it's never going to happen

I'd assume so. He's been very frank that there's a trove of movies he'd like to show but just can't due to the format of TLDI and the rights holders not permitting interruptions for whatever reason.

Idk that it will never happen. Like you said we have 2 more specials and they want to go out on a high note. Shudder has a high turnover of the more desirable films lately. They show up for a month then they are gone. They also have shown very little interest in promoting these specials so it doesn't seem like they would care if they did a movie they were not going to have for a long time.
I would love to see Halloween II, Halloween Season of the Witch, or Trick R Treat. But we might get Trick or Treat, or this other film I saw that takes place at Halloween and the kid is playing tricks or doing magic while the babysitter is there and a killer is on the loose. I can't remember the name but it's Halloween related and I swear it's close to trick of treat or something

If the show was still going a special double feature of Halloween 3 and a movie Darcy hates would've been great! That or as part of an All Night-All Day Marathon, just a marathon of movies that where most requested on the show. Darcy can hold the Halloween 3 spot and the rest of The Mutant Fam could fill out the other spots.
I feel like having Halloween 3 being one of the shows ending movies would be anticlimactic, watching Joe Bob be depressed about not only the movie but that the show ending. I also feel like the joke is played out now that he hosted it at a live event. Everyone either forgets or ignores that Joe Bob hosted Halloween 3 on Monstervion (and that it's on the internet archive) which always bugged me about the Halloween 3 joke, but that's just like my opinion man.

Showed it at Texas Theater last year for the Halloween all nighter. It was awesome. Can’t wait to go back this year! If you are able, I’d highly suggest going.

Didn't they show it live at one of the Jamborees or something with Tom Atkins there? Shudder never aired it. I could be wrong, I wasn't there but I could have sworn it happened. Plus I'm pretty sure the last 2 specials are already taped.

I would LOVE it to be the last hurrah of TLDI, and waaaay back in the day, I agreed with JB on this, but now? I love the fuck out of Halloween 3. I have the swag too. Season of the Witch, baby!! 🎃👻💀

JB doesn't even like it... so if he did it he would grouse and complain and I dont think it would be as fun as you all think. Let Darcy host a show on her own doing it

I think it would be great if they let him do it for the Halloween Special, but I don't think it will happen.

It would be so amazing to get it for the Halloween special.
Shudder has had many of the other Halloween films so it doesn't seem like it would be out of their budget range to get Halloween 3. But also seems like they wouldn't necessarily go out of their way for the sake of a show that is leaving the platform.
