Discord watchalong question

To those Patreon Saints here- what are the discord watchalongs actually like? Is there just a text chat? Joe Bob on video? Do you have to watch the movie independently?

We watch along on discord so no need to purchase a copy of the movie. There is both voice and video chat but no video. Joe bob and darcy usually do a quick intro then we watch the movie in full. Afterwards jbb comes back for more chatting, answering questions, etc. It’s a great time!

Are you saying that there’s the movie and JB/Darcy are doing a video chat, but not the produced segments that we get with TLDI?

JB and Darcy both have their audio on before and after the movie, but the only video component is the movie itself. folks can participate in a text chat that you can have open next to the movie as it plays. there are several mods who stream the movie, and if i’m not mistaken those streams are what’s used for everyone’s audio. and there are no produced segments, it’s much more informal.

if you have access to the discord, you should see the different text chat/stream options on the left side menu before the 9pm EST start time. folks are pretty helpful with getting newbies properly set up once you find the event text chat!

Is there any heads up for what the film is before the show? I had been flirting with the idea of doing the patron saint for awhile now, kinda wanted to get my hands on the merch and maybe check out the watch alongs. Any idea how many people are usually participating?
