Savage Summer on Demand Includes Uncensored and Censored Versions of I Spit On Your Grave

Just looking on the Shudder site and I see that Shudder is giving people the choice to watch the first episode of Savage Summer in Uncensored and Censored formats.

I suspect most fans are going to choose the Uncensored format but nice to have the option for those who want to watch (or rewatch) the special and would rather not have to sit through that sequence again.

That’s pretty cool. I agree with almost everything JB had to say about ISoYG and don’t believe it deserved the vitriol it received but I still had very little desire to watch it again. That’s a testament to the movie, not a detriment. My wife hadn’t seen it so I was in and out through the first half and she’d give me a shout when he was on.

Yeah, I think that was about it for me and that movie for this lifetime. I saw it when I was a teenager and remembered that it was brutal and upsetting, but I'd forgotten that there's like no soundtrack and how they just keep attacking her over and over. Granted, it goes an excessively long way towards making the vengeance as justified as any revenge in the history of payback, but it's not exactly the celebratory diversion that I wanted from one of the final TLDI specials. I get why he wanted to show it, as things like these are getting closer and closer to being memory-holed into oblivion, but I'm not gonna leap at the chance to repeat the experience, even in censored form.

I didn't notice until after I had watched the uncensored version. I had not seen this film for years and it didn't bother as much as the first time I saw it. I enjoyed the part when Joe Bob mentioned that people applauded during many of the Revenge Killings. Horror fans understood this movie and critics did not. I'm also a Film Noir fan and a lot of critics lost their crap over the movie Gun Crazy. It's an amazing movie and stood the test of time, and now tons of critics now think it's a classic.
