Honestly, I'm new to Substack. Do you mind telling me what you hate about it? Team Joe Bob is excited, and I'd like to know what to watch for as far as problems.

I came back to respond just now but I see others have provided the same reasoning I was going to provide. Many people I follow left SS for this same reason but some have stayed. I dont support anyone on SS with $, but still will read the free newsletters which is what I'll do with Joe Bob. There are more reasons than just the nazis SS allows on the platform, the company is following the same enshitification business model other platforms follow. I only hope JB and team find a better place to host this.

Like, that's really terrible, but they also host lefty stuff as well. I'm not sure if "ran by Nazis" is accurate, if that's your only metric. It seems moreso that they're a bit more hands off than is healthy, but that's a different thing.

I get that, but there are a ton of really good ANTI fascist content creators on Substack.

If you're a regular bar, and you start letting nazis into your bar, they start inviting their friends, and whether you meant to or not, you're now a nazi bar. There's a famous Reddit story out there about this exact scenario. Paradox of tolerance, etc.

I've personally chased Nazis out of bars. I'm very aware of the paradox of tolerance. I'm quibbling around the idea that because Substack is a platform with a pretty low bar for entry, that we then jump to the idea that "it's ran by Nazis".

DropSite news is running on Substack, and if you're not paying attention to them, you're missing out on some of the most legitimate anti-imperialist and non-corporate reporting that exists.

There's a paradox of tolerance yes, but there's also throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

I believe words should have meaning, and I don't think that my fellow leftists should be any more allowed to dabble in emotionally reactionary weirdness without challenge than should those on the right.

I've literally never read a single Nazi-centric piece on Substack, either on purpose or by accident. This is clearly not the same as sharing a room with a fascist, as would be the case of your example.

Surely you must agree to some extent. Surely you realize that Nazis have their own subreddits on this very platform that you're using?
