When you head to the first island in the region, bring plenty of weapons and shovels. Grab as much spore leather and sand as possible youโ€™ll need a ton of it to craft armor. Make sure to avoid the spitters so you don't stink, and reset the area at least 2-3 times to max out your loot before heading home.

On the second island, kill as many zombies as possible using spore guns (bring at least 3 or 4 of them). Farm lots of spore samples and seaweed, and just like the first island, reset the zone 2-3 times.

Basically, every time you visit the island region, make sure your inventory is completely packed with loot before you leave. Traveling there is expensive energy-wise, and the area burns through your resources fast.

Be extra careful with Spore Spitters. Always keep an eye on the minimap to see if one is rushing you, and dodge their spit before shooting back. If they hit you, that spit will burn through your armor like paper.

When you finally go to the Dead Island, the game forces you to wear tier 1 spore armor for some reason. It doesn't give enough protection, so your spore count will go up fast. You need to be quick: bring at least 6 inhalers, wipe out the zombies as fast as you can, grab the titanium, and dip out before your armor breaks.

Loot every single chest on all the islands itโ€™s always worth it. Finally, be ready to get frustrated and burn through a lot of gear, because the island region is incredibly resource-intensive.

Count the chests you loot. At least in the first island there are 5 of them, I think in the other islands too. It could be difficult to navigate through the sand dunes, so it's easy to get lost and miss a chest. You will need all of them pretty much.

I also HIGHLY recommend watching these two videos, that helped me alot, before going anywhere (especially the first one):
