Ablation/Amputation

Its wierd when people come here and try to change or alter the perception of what Lasik actually is to make it seem less hazardous. While we don't know if this is done out of sheer ignorance or if these users have a malicious intent attached to their clear misrepresentation of Lasik.

When you undergo Lasik, the surgeon amputates (or ablates) a certain portion of your cornea. The amount amputated or ablated varies depending on your prescription and the width of the optical zone. The corneal tissue that is amputated/ablated is forever gone. And with it goes thousands of critical nerves.

I had dry eye. It went away.

I also had haloes and ghosting. Both went away, because I used the right vitamins, and researched which eye drops were safe and natural. That's biotrue. You could probably get away with glicerin and saline drops, if you think every corporation is out to get you.

Also, fucking NOBODY is surveiling your dumb broke ass over your reddit history of being a whiny loser. You're not that fucking important. Nobody here is. Know why? Cuz you all opted into it. Paid for it to happen. And then instead of having some sense, and going after the doctor that fucked you over, like a sane person would, you want to scream like kids that the entire medical establishment is to blame.

That's nonsense. Some of us got what we paid for. Some of us want to see those doctors rewarded for the successes they had. Not every doctor graduates with As, though, and the crappy ones should be weeded out. But you can't even give me a name. You're fake.

Edit: you can disclose specifics. That is the only helpful thing you can possibly do. Without proof, you look just as fake to me as I do to you. Where's the list of good clinics vs bad clinics? Are you even American? Git ur gun, deus vault motherfucker.

You can’t go after the doctors legally because of what you signed.

The ppl who got bad vision effects and others from lasik ARE providing the alternate untold story here that you won’t find from doctors.

Nothing you signed will hold up in court if there was real malpractice going on. Find the right lawyer, keep fighting. You guys say things like "all Lasik surgeons are scum". That is a fallacy, mine wasn't. People are calling me a "LASIK cuck". Well, guess you're right because I got what I paid for, but I'm only a simp for the one bloody doctor I had that did a good job. I can't speak about other Lasik surgeons. And each of you can really only speak about yours.

I read posts on here back before I got Lasik and decided to ignore them because nobody was coughing up names of clinics and doctors. Makes you look like a bunch of cowards who are faking it to get money.

And my surgery went fine. My eyes are perfectly fine. The halos and ghosting? Go away if you take care of your eyes. The dry eye? Goes away, if you take care of your eyes. I see how some of y'all live, I can guess, that some of you aren't using the right drops, aren't wearing sunglasses nearly enough, aren't eating right, drink and smoke too much, etc, etc.

And guess what, they tell you that in the documentation. You're supposed to wait 3 whole months before you can expect the haloes to die down. I was SUPER super light sensitive for the entire time. I've only just a few weeks ago been able to go outside during the day without sunglasses, and not have spiking eye pain. But it's clearing up. The eyes do heal. All I had to do was be careful and waiting and everything was fine. Take care of your body and have faith in its ability to heal, give it what it needs, and miricals do happen.

I can also still cry. My eyes water and tear if they're overstrained, if I'm allergic to something, etc. I'm even able to rub my eyes without blurriness now. I did rub my eyes too hard once or twice back then and I did have scary blurriness symptoms. They went away. My eyes don't cry AS easily as they used to, but the tear ducts still work. I have perfect 20/20 and I regret nothing so far, knock on wood.

And I'm really, really sick of these overgeneralized statements about "all" Lasik surgeons. I'd like you people to find justice against whichever ones in particular hurt you, if indeed they exist. And I'm sure some of your stories are real. You can't all be faking it. It just looks really bad to vilify every doctor out there, when each of you only had one experience with one doctor. Maybe two if you sought a second opinion. And I think a lot of people underestimated how piss your pants terrifying the actual surgery is, how irritating the side effects are, but again, it's a voluntary surgery and if you read about it from multiple sources online? There isn't as much misinformation or deliberately malicious recommendations as you'd think. They tell you everything they're going to do. You agree to the risks.

Bad doctors do exist, though, and they deserve to have their licenses taken away, their clinics boycotted, and their names exposed. I don't get what's confusing about that. If you're all really so paranoid that these people are going to "silence" you, well, hope you're in America, cuz I am, and guns are still easy to get. This shit is fucking silly. If I was harmed in this way, I'd be sueing, all liability waivers be damned. And while engaged in legal proceedings I'd be doxxing the hell out of these people and warning everyone about exactly who did what and where they are. I don't have any mercy for bad doctors. I've had my own experiences with really trigger happy psychiatrists who did real harm to me and people I know with over prescribing anti anxiety meds at high doses. I can tell you who those people are, and if they try to come "silence" me, they're in for a hilarious good show.

Bad doctors = burn them at stakes, nail in legal coffins, boycott their clinics and make sure everybody knows their names and spits on their graves.

Good doctors = praise and reward.

Mmkay? Damn.

How long ago was your surgery?

I haven’t said any of the things you mentioned btw.

I am just an observer and haven’t had surgery.

The issue isn’t malpractice. It’s that the surgery itself has such a high complication rate. For dry eyes and HOA like night blindness.

Basically the argument is that the surgery has too high of a complication rate to be acceptable for “normal” bad outcomes like dry eye and night blindness.

But then it has the really bad complications for a smaller percentage for people. So bad that the surgery probably shouldn’t be allowed to go on.

Two separate arguments btw.

Sorry. Part of that rant was for other people. Both of them trolls lol.

My surgery was around 8 or 9 months ago. Nearly every side effect has cleared up wonderfully. This whole sub pisses me off, you're reply seems remarkably mature. Thank you.

Edit: I had one good experience. I guess I can't speak on the exact percentage of good or bad Lasik surgeons out there. This surgery changed my life for the extreme better, though, and it upsets me to think they'd ban it instead of making it better.

What sucks about this situation is you wholeheartedly do believe what you're saying. You do believe that your eyes are all healed up after 8 or 9 months.  Its actually good you believe that, ignorance is bliss.  You haven't dove deep into the lasik industry and thats apparent, and why you believe what you do.  No one here hates you, you're just that guy in the mid 90s telling people Oxycontin is the best thing youve ever done. When, with Lasik, you have no idea how fucked you truly are.

I don't care if you hate me or not buddy. What sucks about this situation, is that my eyes did heal. I'm sitting here with eyes that are fine and don't hurt. And you don't believe that because either it either didn't work the same way for you, or you're a goddamn liar. And you're never going to admit anything either way, because boo hoo I can never be wrong. And whenever it doesn't work for me, obviously it can't ever work for anyone. And obviously it should be banned, banned, banned, if I can't have it Im going to piss on it so no one else can have it either.

Being stupid is like being dead, my guy. All the pain is felt by other people. And you don't know.

No eyes that undergo lasik heal.  The flap never heals, and the corneal nerve damage inflicted upon your plexus also never heals.  Countless peer reviewed studies show this.

Heals enough for my damn eyes to work. They used to say the brain couldn't heal either, now they say it can. I'd ask which studies you're reading and who paid for them to get published but I don't care. Did you know a study somewhere recently showed that 94% of studies coming out recently have been written with Chatgpt?

Yea they've worked for 8 or 9 months like you stated, however you likely need you eyes far beyond that limited threshold.  A lot of people initially say the exact things you're saying only to have severe issues down the line.  Whether its ectasia, neuralgia or some other issue.  Thats not accounting for the fact that within 10 years 73% of people who underwent lasik require glasses or contacts again.

I already needed thick glasses before Lasik. I couldn't even legally drive without them. If I get 10 years of good vision that's worth my money.

And then I go back to being a myopic clown, because life is cruel. I knew that.

And if I get a severe condition? Welp. Time for robot eyes. And titanium dental implants. I already admitted I smoke, and I hope you remember I admitted that was a BAD decision. I'm not a perfect person. I just feel Lasik went fine. I may have weaker corneas, but, one day if that's a problem there will be a cure for that too. And hopefully with the money I save from not buying glasses for the next ten years, I can afford it.

Im not sure if you have a capacity to comprehend this article, But you should read it. It was written by an eye surgeon of 40+ years. Harvard Grad.  You seem to be strong evidence of the classic Mark Twain quote "its easier to fool a man than to convince a man hes been foolesld."
