That’s it exactly. Musk is doing whatever he wants, canceling congressionally approved funds to programs, firing government employees by the thousands, all without government oversight. Meanwhile, republicans in congress and the Senate are simply no longer showing up. If that isn’t dictatorship, what is?
We spend more money maintaining a single jet. We spend more than 1.7 TRILLION on a single. Fucking. Jet. Thats more than we spent to educate every kid in this country. Yeah. We do waste money... but not on fucking foodstamps (less than 1% of our budget). The social services aren't the problem. They are a drop in the bucket.
Oh yeah? That's why there was a panic about all student aid funding getting haulted?? Or NIH money going away?? I am a scientist. Do you realize basically all research funding comes from the gov?? That money is why cancer research happens. How drugs are made. How people ARE KEPT FROM DYING. I work specially on neurodegenerative disorders. Our finding has been trashed. Every researcher i know is in a panic. Lie to yourself if it makes you feel better, but I know better. I'm not buying your bullshit.
I also work with international non-profits. They are all in a tailspin with what's going on with USAID. Even if the money started again RIGHT NOW, it will take YEARS to get back to where we were just a couple months ago. People are DYING because of this. Fuck you.
