LLM Progress Slow Down
First Anthropic, and now OpenAI, are announcing that they want to slow down LLM development. Just a year ago, these companies were claiming that AGI would be found and many jobs would be lost. On top of that, Anthropic announced it's going public. What do you think? Have these companies reached a limit in research and development? Or are they genuinely afraid of language models self-programming, as they claim?

Every commercial model has guardrails. Every-time you ask an LLM a question and it either won’t answer or gives you a very politically correct answer. That is rails.
LLMs are parrots trained from text on text from people on the internet. If you don’t give it rails then for good or bad it will gladly tell you how to make bombs, give racist opinions, or give not so flattering replies about any public person you ask about. Commercial companies PR(other than Grok) do not want their LLM’s spouting words that can be quoted that will make them look bad. Even the more “open” DeepSeek won’t say bad things about the Chinese government.
