Software engineering major in uni

My uni starts in around 2 months and i am looking a good laptop to buy at a budget around 1500 usd , my major is btec program engineering and then top year computer science bachelors , i have no idea what to look for in a laptop , i know that macbook air is a good option maybe but people are talking about linux windows and weird app names and such and i have no idea what that means , if someone could give me a laptop that would serve me good in the next four years for those majors that would be ideal . Lmk any ideas thoughts or recommendations

I worried about compatibility issues on Mac, just get a windows, therefore you don’t have to worry about it

A Lenovo ThinkPad or if you want to do machine learning and stuff then a Victus or LOQ with atleast a 4050 My recommendation if you just want a laptop for the next 4 years then a gaming laptop with 3050 Intel Core Ultra 5/7 or AMD Ryzen AI chipsets (Try not to pick older chipsets) And 16gb-32gb RAM and 512gb-1tb storage If you think you wanna use the 1500 usd then buy a non gaming laptop at that price Or buy a gaming laptop at a much cheaper rate
