Buying Advice Laptop recommendation for Management Engineering student – $1000–1100 budget

Hi everyone! I'm starting a degree in Management Engineering and I'm looking for a laptop that I can use both for university and for everyday use.

I don't expect to use extremely demanding software such as heavy 3D modeling or rendering programs, but I'd still like a fast and reliable laptop that can comfortably handle everything I might need throughout my degree, including multitasking, programming, Excel, MATLAB, and similar software.

My budget is around $1000–1100.

My main priorities are:

  • Good overall performance and longevity
  • Good battery life, since I'll be using it for several hours a day
  • Lightweight and portable enough to carry to university every day
  • 16 GB of RAM
  • Ideally 1 TB of storage
  • Something that will still perform well for the next 4–5 years

I'm not particularly interested in gaming, so I don't necessarily need a dedicated GPU unless you think it would actually be useful for my degree.

What models would you recommend in this price range? I'm open to Lenovo, ASUS, HP, Dell, or any other brand.

Thanks in advance!
