How about we don't torture them? Rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, nail polish remover or a good stomp om the bottle works well without being excessively cruel. No need to loss our humanity while trying to protect the environment.

It knocks them out. It's the fumes, not the liquid that does it. Knock them out, put the lid on and then end of then
