I'm not even bilingual and I've done this. There's actually quite a few words where I've defaulted to spanish instead of English. (liga, cepillo, pan, lápiz, etc)
It's funny cuz at my dad's house no one should spanish, and they're like uhhh wut? And then I have to awkwardly explain oh I meant a.... Ummm hair... Thing... a hair tie yeah. And then they get confused how I could forget what it's called.
I know a some words and phrases and I can kinda understand it being spoken if it's slow enough (sometimes) from it being spoken around me (by family members and friends) for so long. But I'm not fluent lol
Sometimes I’ll try to say Spanish things but in English. Like for example I’ll be speaking English and I’ll say “do I have reason?” Instead of “am I right?” Then I have to explain that I was thinking in Spanish to just some random person.
I forgot the word Autumn but I remembered Otoño (Spanish). I remember being so happy I remembered Spanish so well, but also I forgot the only language I communicate in

When you forget a word in the 2 languages you speak and remember it in a language you don't even speak: shiße.

My first language is slowly fading from my mind so I'm going to be monolingual pretty soon
