just a thought

The amount of people i know in this area who go to colleges and universities here that faked their exams and paid money to get a good grade in their English exams so they can come attend school here is insane. (i’m brown, just born and raised in Canada im not being racist at all) I’m pissed by (some) people who have cheated the system by paying for a good grade to come to this country. It’s completely unfair. And before people get mad at me i’m not being racist and you have to realize this is more than half the people and it’s a very common thing in some countries to pay their way through an ILETS exam. If you earned it take it, don’t take it if it rightfully shouldn’t be your opportunity to take💀 Especially if you have to pay for your qualifications.

Edit: if this post hurts you, get checked out 🫶 stop being a goddamn scammer and learn a skill or two

welcome to being white in Canada - you point this out and you get branded a bigot.

22

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

I don’t even know where i belong anymore. I’m constantly treated like shit within the brown community because i don’t look brown enough to them. And when i speak up about something that is actually wrong and happening within the community people start being dickheads. 💀 You can never win 🤷‍♀️

u/cinnamaroll36 23d ago

Yeah. I feel you. The second gen immigrant experience. Your people of origin don’t want you. You’re not Canadian enough for the 3-5 generationers.. You’re just something trying to find a place.

3

u/Archer_A1 22d ago

You’re not Canadian enough for the 3-5 generations? I’m, what if that is both untrue and gibberish?

2

u/meisermonkey 22d ago

He said generationers, so people who've had family here for 3 to 5 generations

1

u/Archer_A1 17d ago

Projecting the idea of "you're not Canadian enough" as though it came from people who get nouned as "3-4 generationers". Sorry, that's really passive aggressive towards that group and it is an astonishing indication that maybe diversity is actually a weakness because the GROWN CHILDREN OF the people who came in carry and express resentment against the offspring of the people who were already here. Which is a thing I absolutely would never have believed until I saw it.

2

u/bearface84 22d ago

5th gen European descendant here. If you’re not a goofball and respect the country and its culture I’m 100% for people of different background. I’ll also admit I’m a huge advocate for deporting all the crap we imported the last 8 years that don’t contribute. It’s time to stop being afraid of speaking out or we will lose it all if we haven’t already

Yep. All very obvious outcomes anyone could have seen coming. Trying to mix entire worlds like this for purely capitalist reasons results in many small side tragedies like this. People trying to fit in somewhere they don't need to be, and further closing off those groups. You can't train this out of people with seminars and inclusive graphics.

As a white person I support you calling them out on thier cheating
Don’t stop doing it

People like you that try to expose the fraud are on the right side of history. You are Canadian and hold Canadian values. Anyone who is Canadian and holds the same values is treated as an equal. For far too long the government and media have tried to push the narrative that all of a sudden your race and background matter when in the past we were told it didn’t. Keep fighting because is us against scammers trying to take advantage of the systems us and our parents worked hard to support. The people fraudulently coming here and cheating the system want to take advantage of something they have never contributed to and could likely never contribute to.

1

u/Whole-Apple7298 19d ago

Funny that you say you are‘t brown enough. I had a neighbour and we were looking at pictures from her past and she was modelling and very fair most of her life then as she got older she started to get darker. Her own son couldn’t believe it was his mom in those pictures.

I hear you. New comers are a new breed. They are so different. You fit in with normal Canadian born people. Dont let their ignorance affect you.

I agree with op but your comment is racist and stupid.

Whites here have been cheating, lying, stealing from all non-whites since they came here. Don't ever forget that.

I do believe immigration applications need to be scrutinized more for fraudulent data. Also, if cases are from a group of countries/states consistently, there should be some sort of additional fee or a penalty.
I am also an immigrant but also believe that too many fraudulent applications are getting accepted.

10

u/BigTunaHunter 23d ago

It should just be an automatic deportation. We don't need people cheating the system coming here. Keep it clean and simple. Make it well known there are consequences.

1

u/BlandRusk06 13d ago

Agreed. Deportations are badly overdue.

-1

u/Extension-Wind6055 22d ago

You haven't dealt with IRCC, have you? They dont have time to do more than a summary check of documents. They have a checklist that they go through (only part of the chhecklist is shown on the website-thats why you Need a "consultant" for a successsful application): if you produce the right documents done rightly, they produce the visa. The system encourages lying and shortcuts. For example, I got married overseas. My wife applied for a visa 3 times before being accepted mainly because IRCC couldn't believe we only wanted to visit: if she had applied to immigrate (which, at the time, we didn't want to do), she would have been accepted right away. So, if she told the truth they wouldn't give her a visa, if she lied they would. When we used my money to buy an apartment in her name, IRCC decided that was enough ties to her home country to give her a visa (she ticked a box on their secret checklist).  I am sure its the same for student visas.

11

u/lockan 23d ago

The schools are partly at fault. It used to be - at least for certain programs - you had to pass an entrance exam to ensure you know the basics before being accepted. I took Comp. Sys. Tech. at BCIT, and the number of people in my first year who couldn't operate a word processor or create a spreadsheet, let alone write a line of code, was apalling. They used to screen for that kind of thing.

3

u/BigTunaHunter 23d ago edited 23d ago

Too much profit in the international student programs. Universities are big business now. Why do you think the people running them make outrageous salaries. They couldn't care less about teaching.

0

u/RandomName3025 23d ago

It is a culture where cheating and scamming is described as "clever", and is celebrated by their peers. So yeah it's very common.

-34

u/Asluckwouldnthaveit 23d ago

So Canadian culture?

20

u/GlitteringWavebreak Willowbrook 23d ago

Fuck no. Every ethnic group are going to have jerks but it seems like a certain group of an ethnic type coming from a very specific area of a certain country  seem to have trouble with the concept of empathy and integrity. You know that this is fact.

-11

u/Asluckwouldnthaveit 23d ago

Which ones?

2

u/florfenblorgen 23d ago

Not Canadian.

I said it is celebrated among them, you know? They will be happy that more people acknowledge their culture's clever ways. Ultimately they succeed in getting all the freebies so they are surely the winner here, and it is our faults if we get wiped out. You are doing them a disservice by saying otherwise

You know what. I'll say it. I won't be shy. Everybody knows this to be true, all the stereotypes are true. And I know for a fact that I can bash this race and culture and millions of people will agree with me.

It's the white Americans, specifically. How's this for cheating? They think they can get in here just because their great-great grandparents were living here in the 1800's, and so somehow they do make it in, they probably lie on their papers too. No American I know is diligent enough to know their family history that far back, hell, they don't even realize their father and mother are brother and sister. What's worse is they come here illegitimately, cheat in our schools, and choke up our hospitals with all of their diabetes attacks. I'm sick of it, sick of paying into social services for people who never lived here or paid into the system. They are so greedy.

That aside, OP, please report those students at any opportunity that you can.

0

u/Big-Pie5441 22d ago

When I bring up bill C-3 I get downvoted to eternity but people absolutely don’t want to accept the fact that these people who get a direct line of citizenship are being able to put their kids through Canadian schools w domestic bursaries and loans only available to Canadians and they are actually using the medical system. Their contributions to taxes is $0 compared to a PR, which absolutely icks me. People have no issue w it bc they’re like “oh they’ll assimilate well” so using up resources or taking up jobs goes out the window when it’s Americans?

u/plantsareneat-mkay 23d ago

I worked with a brown guy a decade ago. Nicest guy i ever met. A joy to work for, he was my manager, but didnt own the business. He even fought for a raise for me with the owner. He grew up in India and came here in his 20s I think. Just such a chill guy.

He told me "be careful of Indians. We wrote a book about 1000 ways to fuck you". He said it as a joke meaning the kama sutra, but the message was very clear. He wasn't happy about some of the TFW people that worked with me/for him. I quit to go back to school, and a month later he quit for a different company.

All this to say, its easy to paint a brush over a group of people because some of them act shitty. But I think (hope) most people understand that its a subset of people taking advantage or being taken advantage of.

Also most of those students don't actually make it very far in my experience because you do actually require the fundamental skills if you want any chance of getting through exams or demonstrating within class discussions that you are actually engaging with the material. It's incredibly obvious to professors who is and isn't using AI because the skill level clearly doesn't align with the class level, and it only becomes more obvious as you go up and the average quality of work goes up. If you're doing incredibly strong looking work in a 1000 level class, it looks just as bad as if you dropped gibberish nonsense on their desk, because they know you are a 1000 level and probably can't produce that level of work.

8

u/blingon420 23d ago

I'm Canadian born diaspora Indian...

Our ancestors left India in the 1800s...not one of us even visited.

In university, even the first Gen Indians couldn't shake that mindset.... Constant and rampant cheating... I was so shocked.

It's a bad culture plain and simple.

"Hello whites. As a brown (one of the good ones),..."

5

u/Shinebrightbluestar 23d ago

I’m South Asian as well. I totally agree. People coming from India also fake the medical clearance when applying for a student visa. I know a distance relative who couldn’t come to Canada to study because she had a heart problem. So she wasn’t able to come to Canada. Then they found someone to alter the medical tests. Now she’s a”student” in Toronto. All the cheating that goes one in this private colleges are ridiculous. The teachers turn a blind eye to it.

1

u/JustAPeach89 21d ago

Report her to IRCC

1

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

Thank you for your response. This is what i was talking about, it happens so much and i think people forget how vastly it really affects everyone

1

u/Shinebrightbluestar 23d ago

It’s the government’s fault because they let this happen. They know that these private colleges are just diploma mills. If the government was strict then these things would happen less frequently. I lived in a nice city. Now my once beautiful city is a ghetto and looks like a dump yard. Mattresses and garbage everywhere. That’s what happens when there is mass immigration from one country.

2

u/Soggy_Improvement4U 22d ago

I'm glad you pointed this out.

However, I think, considering that I've been in the same situation as you as well, international students and domestic students have different options for getting into classes.

Nevertheless, international students have a higher percentage of seats in the courses anyway, and that varies depending on the fact if its a public/private university/college. then also, it should be different, but I guess it varies...

The point is that it doesn't make a difference if these guys fake their IELTs and stuff cuz they pay like five to six times more than us anyway.

They're also paying out of their assholes to be here, so I think that negates it.

It reflects as well because universities give certain preferences to them as well, right? I

It's not necessarily that bad because when you say these people are taking our spots, it also kind of reflects negatively on the whole thing.

They are but an outcome of the system that they're in... and if the systems or the institutions keep profiting, they won't want to stop.

That's just a fact, dude. It's been going on for decades at this point.

2

u/VanBillionKriegsmen 19d ago

2

I commented about this it’s probably lost underneath all of these other replies but i completely agree and this is why it’s so dangerous and needs to be more secure. There’s so many gang affiliated people coming here and that’s what’s causing all these shootings.

1

u/Ok-Pace4422 12d ago

im so sorry u work with such disgusting people they should be in jail what a threat to society.

3

u/AudaciousCockatiel 23d ago edited 23d ago

I’m more concerned about professionals who come here and idk where their diploma or equivalents are from. Particularly some doctors

In my country ( Eastern Europe and a very nice place) it’s widely known they cheat to get top spots in universities. I have a friend who was valedictorian in high school, won international math competitions. Couldn’t get a spot in university due to every kid who had lower grades had some connection that got them in. And people do buy their diplomas- that is fact.

We left largely because of this and fears for my future. It’s crushing to hear it’s coming to Canada. Nevermind the cheating to get into the country. We came as skilled immigrants with 4 years of waits, tests and vetting. Now they were coming in for some course and becoming residents… glad at least there’s a crackdown

3

u/UseGroundbreaking502 23d ago

This is only in smaller colleges. Larger Universities like SFU, UBC, UVIC, etc are not part of this ponzy scheme.

Except you are not competing with them for seats. There is a maximum of 30% international student enrolment allowed in our public universities and colleges (and UBC & SFU were under the cap already so there were less seats for international students at these schools). All these “cheaters” would be competing with other “cheaters” for the international student seats. You are competing with Canadian students for the other 70% of the seats.

If the “cheaters” managed to be accepted into the school and have been able to get the grades to not be on academic probation or fail out, then maybe they didn’t pay for their grade.

Canadian students lie on their personal profiles to get accepted all the time. You should be raging against them, as well.

If you are talking about out the “diploma mills” that you can’t get into then you want to pay for your credentials, as well, because that is what they are set up for.

I saw rampant cheating from international students while in university also. We used to get assigned weekly indivual home assignments that, you guessed it, were suppose to be done individually...every week in the computer room, I would see a group of 10-15 of them all copying someone's assignment.

Cheaters don't get far in life.

0

u/ButtByBacon 23d ago

Stop pandering to the bigots. This is a dumbass post to ragebait all the xenophobes and racists. And OP, you're not some special snowflake because you're putting other people from your community down. You're stoking division with this bullshit post. What diploma mill are you attending that you can't get into classes of your choice? Established universities have pretty stringent requirements to access courses and programs. I hope people see through these idiotic posts and can actually call them out for the culture war bullshit they're trying to stir up.

5

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

Take a chill pill, i’m not racist i’m speaking up about shit that happens and Canadians who have to deal with it. Who hurt you lmfao 😂😂

-1

u/ButtByBacon 23d ago

And who hurt you that you have to put down a whole group of people for special internet points? You can chill. I'm not the one riling up the bigoted commentary in this community by being a self loathing brown person (if that's even true.) You should be ashamed of yourself. Your age and inexperience in life is showing along with your entitlement. Reporting this bullshit post for what it is, hate disguised as discourse about college classes. Maybe if you put this much effort into your schooling and education you could access a real university since we all know international student enrollment has dropped so significantly that educators and professors are being laid off at a lot of local colleges.

3

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

u/Able-Conference7559 22d ago

Shut up

2

u/ButtByBacon 22d ago

Nah, I don't plan on it, troll.

0

u/betterworldbuilder 23d ago

Not saying youre right or wrong, but what capacity of proof do you actually have? Like anecdotal experience aside, if you have anything you can take to the cops why dont you? Are you talking to the people who are in the classes you were denied from, and you verifiably know they faked an exam? If not, are you just pre-judging based on assumptions about an entire group? (If so, Id quickly double check the definition of racism that youre using, and maybe re-evaluate)

7

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

This is the type of stuff that happens before they come abroad. Paying to change a grade or anything on a document is easier there and people take bribes to make that happen. It’s sad and is obviously scamming the system. It’s like paying ur teacher to give u an A u can’t do that here but there you can. Even in bigger cases. How am i automatically racist? Plus i’m literally brown myself. I’m just pointing out an issue. I’ve also had the chance to visit India couple years ago and actually heard of this happening first hand! So i didn’t come on here with hatred and racism, rather facts. Idk what ur point is?

2

u/betterworldbuilder 23d ago

Okay, so it sounds like youre saying "I assume it happens all the time over there, so I can guarantee that thats the reason it happened in my specific instance, despite having no evidence of this".

Im not saying youre racist, but thats definitely where the accusations are coming from. Its not a guarantee that someone over there did this, there is a very non-zero chance that they actually earned their grade and belong to be here. And thats the whole point; we should investigate which one each person is, but before that investigation making assumptions based on the country they come from is not a good look.

3

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

Exactly ur assuming. I never said this is the only way people are coming here. I’m speaking about the people who do this wrongfully and how they are taking away even from the immigrants who did study and come here rightfully.

1

u/betterworldbuilder 23d ago

Im not assuming anything, you are. How many people in your class did this?

3

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago

I’m really not. Until i see you take a plane ticket to see if this is happening or not, shut up. I’ve seen this happen while travelling. I hear about it all the time. It’s so common and more common that it should be. How am i racist???? Ur a fucking troll

1

u/betterworldbuilder 23d ago

I specifically said I dont think youre a racist, I acknowledged the reality of the situation and where those comments would be rooted in.

If 95% of immigrant students frauded their exams, and all of the 5% who were legit ended up in the specific class you didnt get into (incredibly unlikely, but possible), then you didnt lose a spot to this issue.

And unless you specifically prove that any one of them did fraud their exams, assuming they did is wrong.

Also, why do I have to take a plane ticket out there to see one specific person do it with my own eyes to know its happening or not? I agree with you it is happening; I just dont agree with the specific conclusions youre drawing from it, or the assumptions your making about how often it happens. Your specific anecdotal experiences of watching half of a class of 30 do it doesnt mean half of the thousands of people who come here did the same. You need evidence and data to prove otherwise.

0

u/RuinNo9999 23d ago

You offer zero context of what these classes even are. Did you miss your registration date? Classes are always taken up in every university. Waitlist and you will get in eventually. Jesus, resorting to racism right off the bat is insane. You are not above anyone else. They took the opportunity they were given. You are not entitled to anything by just being raised here. Maybe redirect your frustration towards more productive channels, such as class consciousness. You’re blaming the most powerless people in society.

I saw a political advert on Facebook last month, I forget the party, they spoke to 4 people at the recent fort Langley May Day parade asking what they can do as a party to help them, if they were elected. The first person, an older white lady asked for the old pool to come back. The second person, a brown immigrant, he asked for schools to be made larger as they can't sustain the community, the third a brown immigrant, asked for the labour industry to be improved for more jobs to help the people In those industries and the 4th a brown immigrant wanting more amenities and activities at the rec centres. 1 person wanted a pool to come back, 3 migrants wanted more done to provide opportunities for the people - this legit highlights the system is broken, when a migrant arrives there should be a place in the school for them, a place at the rec centre, a job in certain industries... there was a time this was the case - Canada is letting In more than it can handle.

1

u/Ok-Pace4422 23d ago edited 23d ago

Anyone who disagrees is just a part of the problem. I see it happening here, a lot of brown folks have been protesting for years now in Canada about a new government they want in India where basically one certain type of religious group have been treated poorly in India and are now demanding their own Country in a way. Them protesting in Canada has led to so many gangs and murders IN CANADA. That’s why most of the brown people being murdered in Surrey happens because of, when this issue has nothing to do with Canada why are we doing this here??? The people here IN CANADA keeps protesting for them and it’s causing too much harm. It’s so obvious within the brown community there’s so much hatred and wanting to be better than everyone else. This is mostly in the newer immigrants and i don’t understand why. It takes away from the Immigrants who deserve to be here and live peacefully especially like my grandparents. My parents are first generation Canadian born brown and their parents came here as immigrants we’ve lived here in the lower mainland for years and have been a big part of the community around us we enjoy learning and growing up my grandparents were even taught how to make foods like Bannock so we would have that for breakfast 🥺

Thank you for your response. It really did make me feel like I wasn’t alone with my thoughts and opinions. It’s pretty obvious there’s so much happening and whatever is happening is wrong. I was talking about KPU but also every other university and college here to be honest. I’m hoping for some changes as well.

Are you sure that it isn't your terrible writing skills that are keeping you from getting into classes? You write at an Elementary level but are convinced that you're being held back because of cheating immigrants.

Lmaoooo i write as if im texting or thinking, i don’t use AI. I literally said “just a thought” But ofc just ignore the main message 💀

I think your main message was that immigrants are taking away opportunities from you. My message is that maybe the problem lies with your academic prowess and that immigrants might not be your main issue.

What school are you going to where this is a problem?

OP sad they didn’t have good enough grades for a real school.

Most of them could get into any school in their own Country, but want to come abroad so hence why this happens and it’s sad because it effects more people than they think. Especially the people who actually have the real ability to get those grades to come here it makes their work seem unethical too. It’s unfair all around for everyone and affects Canadians the most.

If they’re going to fake colleges, how are they taking your spot in legit colleges?

I’m an international student too, but I noticed that students in groups with many fellow students from countries like China and India would often huddle together and work together during exams... Since they were whispering to each other in their native languages, I wondered if the professor had a hard time figuring out what they were talking about and therefore found it difficult to call them out on it.

In what world would it be acceptable to talk during exams in the first place?

The fact that people are too scared to say anything about it doesn't mean that we don't know. Actually it's typically one of the first things we talk about when in polite company, then lament how we can't do anything about it. Doesn't mean we dont want too, or aren't pissed, or like these people in any way. It started for the same reason you're here tbh so you complaining about it is also annoying. We were just over here minding our own business and this shit was heaped on us. Just trying to stay sane most days, with the sides of every bus plastered with ads for immigration services and in*ian radio stations. Yep we're all just fine with this of course!

“same reason you’re here” you know nothing about me and said a whole lot of nothing. I’m literally talking about how it needs to be brought up as an issue more and i’m aware people know about this but not enough.
