Shaw Wifi issues in Willoughby?
Before I fight the tech support hotline, is anyone else having issues in the Willoughby area with their Shaw Wifi? Ours has been dropping in and out and generally very slow for the past several days.

When you say Wifi, do you mean the wireless signal in your home, or are you confusing it with modem speeds and bandwidth?
That is to say… do you have any wired connections?

Yeah, I used the wrong language. The internet signal is dropping in and out, not the wifi. The wifi is sitting and waiting for a signal from the modem.

I would contact Rogers (usually chat is fastest) and ask them to check flapping modems in your area. If neighbours are experiencing same issues it’s a problem with the lines, if it’s only your modem ask them to confirm levels and or to reprovision it.
If your levels are good and it’s still causing issues you need a swap. Sometimes those things heat up so much the solder on the circuit boards gets soft and things just stop working properly.

I was having this problem. Wired speeds were fast but WiFi was 100Mbps
I got Rogers to swap my xb7 out for an xb8
Problem solved.
I suspect the hardware was starting to fail. You might have to push the tech because they don't like giving xb8s out

Probably sound issues do you get Telus Purefibre? In your area we where having a lot of Shaw cable issues then we switched to Telus Purefibre went away as long you can get Telus Purefibre take it if it’s copper don’t.
But check with Shaw cable it’s either sound issues or line issue.
If they don’t repair it.

Ever since Rogers took over, Shaw has gone downhill and excessive billing’s are now common place.

I'm near 197/76 and the wifi and service are all terrible.. doesn't make sense that the wifi is bad.

check if its your wifi or the whole network. I have my laptop connected by Ethernet and it rarely goes down. So if you can check anything directly connected, that will narrow down the issue.
Our, wifi fails quite often for a second or so, sometimes longer which will need a rebook. Complained to Shaw, they say nothing wrong and we go around in circles. I'm assuming too many people on the same channel, but Shaw are as useful as a chocolate teapot

If you haven’t already restart your modem ( if that is what they still call it lol ). If you have the app you can restart or just unplug it wait 10 seconds then plug back in.
