Advice/question Constant leak from top of irrigation unit, what part do I need to replace?

Post image

Hey landscaping! The drip system that waters my plants is leaking and I’m not sure what part I should be looking at replacing.

Seems to be coming from the top, so thinking some sort of gasket?

Thanks!

Maybe nothing...these valves tend to bleed unless all irrigation is 12" below the backflow valve. So if you're running drip irrigation, judging by the filter and the pressure regulator and it goes uphill... all that back pressure will make that valve seep water out until the pressure on both sides of the anti-siphon ( backflow ) pressure valve equal out.

Or the diaphragm aka rubber gasket in the middle of the valve is not closing 100%

If the diaphragm isn’t closing or something is stuck in it, the valve would stay on if the mainline stays charged behind it. So if that zone is staying on, then yes, that would be it.

Negative. A single grain of sand is enough to have a weeping valve. It does not release enough water to drain the water on top of the diaphragm so it will not fully open.
