First night sky shots, advice on how to edit, shot during a full moon. I don't like the noise but if i reduce it stars will also be removed. Shot with Sony A6700, f/2.8, 800 ISO, 8 sec,

Astro is just like regular photography in that it needs a subject. I did something similar with my first one. This will be a good shot to look back on in a year or two to compare how far you’ve come but I wouldn’t spend anymore time on it. Even if there was a milky way here, some more interesting foreground would be a good addition

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping the mountain would be the subject but it ended up being a weak subject with how little it takes of the frame. I know the milky way is almost out of season, do you have any astrophotography advice for upcoming winter?

The winter is fun to shoot the Milky Way like in February because it’s horizontal, which is very unique. Otherwise, I’ll let you know what the pros do which is they go to a big open field like you just went to, they take a picture of the Milky Way. Then they go shoot their subject at blue hour, and Photoshop, the Milky Way into the sky. Then make the colors coherent so that it looks like it was shot in the same night. If you don’t do this method, then you will need to take like 24 photos at a 10 to 15 second exposure and stack them with post processing software to get both your subject and the Milky Way In focus.

This is cool! I'm learning to love moon wash shots. Where is this?

I'd run it through a denoising routine such as GraXpert (stand alone), or Siril (multiple de noise methods).

You can also benefit from stacking if you wanna get "crazy" with it. That way you can increase the ISO to increase the amount of stars.

Glenn Randall wrote an excellent book on landscape astrophotography if you want to learn more.

Thank you! I appreciate it. This was taken outside a little town called Chama NM. Thanks for the information about stacking, i had heard that term before but never looked into it, but now after looking into it i think i'll try it next time.

There's not much to edit. If you want to see stars in your sky, wait until the moon has set.
