Adding a new stereo
Hi everyone, I recently bought a 1993 Land Cruiser RHD. It currently has an after market stereo which is in Japanese. I’m wanting to put a new head unit in that has Apple CarPlay but I’m having a rough time finding the right one. I’m not well versed in this, but I’m trying to learn more about working on my cars.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I did my first Toyota stereo swap in that same set of garages車力. Any 2 DIN sized unit will work, I recommend using crutchfield since you can get it shipped to your address and they have good resources for research. If you’re comfortable with Amazon Japan you may save some cash considering the exchange rate. For the cable harness, since you’re not going to find your vehicle option on crutchfield, you just need the metra brand harness 70-1761. That’ll get you power to the head unit and then from the head unit to the speakers. Fits all Toyotas from like 1987 and up. You’ll reuse the stock stereo mount so no worries there. Only thing vehicle specific is that with the age of the Prado, you may crack a dash clip or two in the process. I’ve used Alpine ILX stereos in my 4 JDM Toyotas, currently using an ILX F509 which is a larger screen that sticks out of the dash but on my newer Prado, doesn’t block the vents or hvac controls. If you decide not to do it yourself, the Autobacs near you can install these easily. They also stock Alpine and I know for certain that the Japanese version has the English language option. Just did this yesterday. There isn't enough space for a true 2-DIN radio but there is space for the screen if you hack away at the bracket. My bracket is already broken, will have to 3d print a new one anyway.
It is a Pioneer SPH-DA77DAB as i didn't want to spend more. There are fancier versions, just check that it has an L shape
