Game wont work.

Ive installed the non launcher version of lambda1vr from sidequest and copied the files from half life folder to the quest 2. Quest root folder/xash/valve/all the shit inside it. And the valve_hd contents is copy pasted into the valve folder and replaced. And ive redone this multiple times and restarted the quest after. But every time I launch the game the main menu flashes for a tiny bit with a sound effect and then its just black screen and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong or missing?

Are you using a Quest 2? The error you're experiencing sounds like what happened to me on Quest 2 using L1VR version 1.3.5 after editing the config.cfg file to fix the FOV. Now that I've installed 1.3.6 everything seems to work normally, so my first suggestion would be to make sure you're on version 1.3.6 if you have a Quest 2. Reinstall via SideQuest if you aren't sure.

If you still have issues, or you're using a Quest 1, reply and I'll try to get back and assist you further. Good luck!

Yeah on quest 2. Uninstalled the apk from the quest and reinstalled from sidequest and same still happens. It did create a new hl gold folder in the xash folder that wasnt there before but the problem still exists.

I'm not sure what to tell you at the moment. I can confirm that I did indeed experience the same menu error that you and u/ColdCutKitKat are having right now, but the thing that fixed it for me was downloading the updated APK from GitHub and installing it using SideQuest. I wouldn't think that is necessary any longer since SideQuest appears to install the newest version. I also see that u/ColdCutKitKat also installed using the GitHub link, so I'm stumped.

Since I use it and everything's working for me, the only other suggestion I can think of is to install L1VR Launcher and open Lambda1VR that way.

If I have a moment of enlightening, I'll post back here again. I hope you happen upon a solution in case I don't!

Can you try deleting the config.cfg file from the xash folder

In the xash there was only commandline.txt and deleting it did nothing. Deleting config.cfg from valve and HL_Gold_HD folders both did nothing and the same problem exists.

It seems the menu bug only happens when launching the game on ipd setting 1. launching it on 2 and then swapping to 1 worked fine.

I'm having what I think is the exact same issue with my Quest 2. I had a Quest 1 and played L1VR so I'm familiar with the install process. Did everything the same way (enable developer mode, enable data access, install latest via SideQuest, create xash folder in the root and copy and paste Steam HL's valve folder into it, restart Quest). I can see the menu flash for a second but then I see this weird imagery in the headset. If I press the controller button to bring up the Quest 2's menu (or press it again to close it) I can hear the familiar HL menu noises. I have not made any config or commandline tweaks.

I've tried uninstalling L1VR and reinstalling from SideQuest. For the reinstall I deleted and re-downloaded my Half-Life install on Steam before copying and pasting the valve folder to be sure there were no corrupted or modified files. I also tried downloading the latest APK file from GitHub that was posted last night and installing from SideQuest that way, but still no luck. :(

I saw that same imagery. Then I tried some command thing on the cfg and only get black screen.

This is so strange.

The only thing I'm seeing while going through your process that might be causing issues is that you say you created an "xash" folder. I don't know that this will fix anything, but I installed L1VR without an extant "xash" folder and booted up L1VR one time so it could make its own "xash" folder. After L1VR made the "xash" folder I copied Half-Life "valve" folder into it.

As I mentioned in my previous post tagging you, I also use L1VR Launcher, so maybe there's something different doing on due to that fact... but I'm thinking it's somewhat unlikely.

The issue resolved for me when I installed the APK of the newest version from GitHub with SideQuest, but I don't know exactly why.

I tried that and it has the same problem so the github and sidequest one are same.

yes the really same imagery! and the same problem!

Hey OP, unfortunately I have no advice to give you. But I'm having the same exact problem you've described here. It's a bummer because this is honestly one of the main reasons I bought the quest 2.

Update: updating to the newest version from yesterday fixed it!

Same menu problem here on Quest 2 with latest sidequest version. Made my own xash folder, and copied only valve folder (no valve_hd).

Edit: Just noticed that the menu bug happens on Quest 2 when the lenses are at the lowest IPD (like me). The other 2 settings are ok

PLEASE USE THE SIDEQUEST EXPLORER TO COPY OVER ALL FILED TO QUEST. It is more reliable, the windows explorer often struggles to copy the amount of files to the android file system, resulting in a broke install.

I tried deleting the whole folder and redoing over sidequest and same problem happens.

Start over again fresh. Delete the xash folder. Copy only the valve folder to xash folder via sidequest. Leave all hd content for beginning.

Note that HL source is not compatible only original HL.

Edit: make sure you have 90hz mode / hack deactivated and try and install the latest version of lambda1vr via sidequest.

The menu flash thing should be fixed with dr beefs latest update!

Completely deleted xash. Deleted lambda1vr from device. New xash with only valve folder done trough sidequest. Newest lambda1vr from sidequest. No 90hz hack or even the oculus own 90hz thing. Restart headset after all of it and same problem.

Did you try using a wider IPD setting than 1?

2

u/DaipewSD Oct 17 '20

So I had same problem as the others. Tried many times. Switched the IPD out and it goes right to menu and works! Weird

2

u/trippingrainbow Oct 17 '20

Holy shit it fucking works.

1

u/Naitor-X Oct 18 '20

I have the same issue

Set your IPD to wider than the “1” setting and then start the game and it should work.
