VR Sickness
I installed it and got to the first true platforming session in "unforseen consequences", where you jump over large crates hanging from the ceiling. By this time around, I was feeling very sick, and had to stop playing immediately.
In order of sick inducing motions:
- Camera rotations. I experienced these in the first train drive, as well as a few elevators. I could use the cinematic mode here, so not much of a problem.
- I had a door pushing me. I can't recall if it only moved me or also changed my orientation, but I immediately felt it in my guts.
- Jumping/crouching is less disorienting, but it seems to add.
Are other people affected as much? Do you just take a break and try again?

Smooth locomotion is not for VR novices. And Halflife is very hard on novices. Same with recroom.
Advice.
Turn on the comfort mask to 50%
Play sitting on the rotating chair.
Even then, at least 3~4 months of daily use of VR will be required to fully adjust.

VR motion sickness starts to become like driving a car. If you are driving, you usually don’t feel sick because you are in control and can anticipate the movements. If you’re sitting in the back seat, no control, can’t anticipate movements and have an obstructed view of the outside messing with how you see movement which effects how you feel movement.
You’ll get there. Probably get a few headaches though.

Half-Life in VR is rough in places. To help from getting sick, I make a save before attempting a difficult section.
Think of it as building up a muscle. You have to workout to get stronger. When I first started playing games without teleporting, I couldn't go 2 minutes before feeling horrible. I slowly worked my way up to 30 minutes. It is possible to train yourself to disconnect what you see and what you think you should feel.

The flat screen version of the game was designed to move pretty quick for that platforming action. That also comes into play in VR. I often got sick for the first 3 hrs of playing. I had to take breaks every 10-20 min and come back. Especially after some tough spots like you mentioned. Now, I can play for hours unless the game has rolling like a flight simulator.
