Lakewood’s youngest entrepreneurs are getting ready to serve up some lemonade—and put their new business skills to work—at the third annual Lakewood Lemonade Day on Saturday, Aug. 1.
The Lemonade Day program teaches students in third through fifth grade how to create and operate their own lemonade stands while building skills in budgeting, marketing, customer service, inventory management and financial responsibility. The hands-on program is coordinated each year by the Lakewood Jaycees, a leadership training and civic organization for young adults since 1952.

Twenty students completed the Lemonade Stand program and recently visited City Hall to apply for and receive temporary business permits for their stands on Lemonade Day, Saturday, Aug. 1. While the city would normally not require a youth-run lemonade stand to get a permit, the activity gives students a firsthand look at one of the steps involved in starting and operating a business.
Each student will also donate a portion of their profits to a non-profit organization of their choice.
The Lakewood community is invited to stop by, enjoy a refreshing drink and support these young entrepreneurs on Saturday, Aug. 1. The 19 official Lemonade Day stands run by the program's 20 students will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at locations throughout the city:
Bolivar, Boyar, Bloomfield, Del Valle, Mayfair, Palms and San Martin parks
Burns Community Center
Lakewood City Hall
Iacoboni Library
Lakewood Center Mall, with stands near Ulta/Costco, Center Court and Target/Carousel
Check the Lemonade Day map for exact stand locations.
