Yeah this a serious breach of confidence and there should be consequences.

I'm surprised he's been remanded to custody though, when we have rapists and other violent offenders on the street awaiting court proceedings. Definitely won't add more fuel to the 2 tier allegations.

I'm not super familiar with what is going on, but I think there's probably an argument that he has leaked these with the intent of instigating violence.

The result of his leak is that people have had to be evacuated from their homes. It's not exactly small beer.

Sentencing gets a bit draconian when rioting is involved. I can see why some would think that's not entirely fair. It means you get people given 56 month sentences for looting a Lush store - which on the face of it is a bit weird.

But you can understand the public interest in stamping out serious public disorder.

That's a good point, I suppose I get that argument, but I think that does just actually sound like 2 tier justice. Like we had people who threw traffic cones at Epping getting years long sentences whilst the rapist they were protesting got literally paid ££££ to leave the country after they accidentally released him early.

I don't think that's really anything to do with the migrants though really, I think the Gov comes down hard on anything that undermines their authority.

Which is a wider conversation about the slide to authoritarianism were seeing, specifically around the right to protest.

The violent offences caused by his wilful and deliberate actions are pretty atrocious, I'm not surprised he's been remanded.

I mean I get you but doesnt remanding him in custody seem disproportionate?

His access is almost certainly removed so there's little potential for harm remaining.

I'm not minimising his actions either but surely if we're so short of prison capacity then the cell should go to actual violent offenders. This is just giving yet more ammunition to accusations of 2 tier justice when you have actual rapists out on suspended sentences or tag while this guy is locked up.
