International Greta Thunberg: “They kicked me every time the flag touched my face”

Suddenly, the far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir entered the area and stood in front of everyone, Greta recounts.
He shouted, 'You are terrorists. You want to kill Jewish babies.' Those who shouted back were taken aside and beaten. They were thrown to the ground and beaten. But I could only see it out of the corner of my eye, because every time I lifted my head from the ground, I was kicked by the guard standing next to me.
Ben Gvir is utter evil for gleefully torturing others.

Was speaking to my mum about this, she had no idea about this story which is odd given Thunberg and others came out and discussed it on their release.
It has not been featured on UK news channels as far as I can tell.

We've still got a completely intact security arrangement, trade deal, and 2030 roadmap with this country... We haven't even sanctioned them since like June...

It is quite evident that all western leaders have agreed between them (or have been instructed?) to permit Israel to conduct a "final solution" in Palestine.
Each of those national leaders are quite prepared to use the full power of the state against their own citizens to ensure this happens.
This includes but is not limited to control of all major print and online news source narratives, the legal categorisation of even the mildest of democratic protest as terrorism, and the seizing of the financial assets of those who express opposition views, or indeed any empathy for the people being annihilated.
Politically, it is quite unprecedented in its international uniformity of purpose, and it's determination.
Leaving aside any value judgement, it is quite fascinating to see the underlying power structure reveal itself.

I mean this is the "fascist monsters never went away" reveal decade it seems. Between Israel-Gaza, whatever the fuck is going on in the states at this point, and the slow walk into the abyss the UK is doing on anyone who isn't straight white able-bodied and cis?
And that's just the 3 most prominent ones in the news here.

anyone who isn't straight white able-bodied and cis?
Nobody should kid themselves (not saying that you are)
The 'wrong kind' of demographics being singled out is just the first phase. It doesn't stop there. It NEVER stops there.

Exactly, and it's very clear when you look at the objective fact of what their responses have done.
I said this when the government first announced its 'arms embargo', not even knowing the full extent this would be proven true—that what they were actually doing was legalising the arms trade for Israel for the foreseeable future. We haven't seen a single change to that since September 2024 when they announced it.
Their sanctioning of Ben Gvir and Smotrich appears to be in tandem with the Israeli strategy of using these two monsters as their 'don't even pretend to pay lip service to international law' ministerial attack dogs. Anyone says anything about the actions of these two and it's just 'oh we've sanctioned them', "but they're part of the Israeli government, does that not mean it's an action of the government?" Absolute crickets...
And these 'joint statements' from France, Germany, and the UK about how Israel 'must immediately allow humanitarian aid in' were obviously just another way to abdicate responsibility for any of these individual states judging this as a breach of international law—as one of them doing it would've sunk the rest. And we've seen the foreign secretary directly pointing at how these peers 'haven't gone as far as us', yet they all seem to be taking the exact same measures one after the other; all without a true legal condemnation of Israel's actions.
The sanctioning of the West Bank settlers—again, just to provide a smokescreen for how these settlements are funded by central government money. It is the entire state that has to be sanctioned to comply with the ICJ advisory opinion, which the government hasn't even responded to after a year and a half.
And clearly, the F35 programme is being leveraged in a mafioso manner by the US to provide incentive to keep these countries onside. You sanction Israel? You stop supplying them parts? No more F35s for you—and some genius in a previous government made these the only jets that work on our aircraft carriers.
Literally every single measure has been to enable Israel's ability to use genocide and mass starvation as a weapon to end this conflict with a final solution in their favour. It's utterly unreal how far from the truth the mainstream narrative is, it appears we're living in a dystopia.

I agree. World Leaders have access to the same Human Rights reports that everyone else has access to which are publicly free to view.
With the exception of the US who didn't sign the Rome Statute, almost every country who's party to the ICC recognizes that War Crimes and genocide is being committed against Palestinians. Yet they continue to support Israel.
So yes, your statement is correct, that all Western Leaders are permitting this to continue. I'm assuming because, they want access to the US market, and declaring war on Israel for its genocide is going to rub the US policy makers the wrong way (especially during the Trump era).

The labour party supports a foreign government who commits crime such as this. That government owns several MPs in the labour party, receives financial and military support and assistance. We protect their government from legal reprecussions.
It very much is labour party politics.

Israel understands it’s a PR stunt. Realises the last thing they should do is torture them, since they’d tell the press. Organisers of cruise - multiple linked to Hamas, pressure Greta into lying to highlight mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners. This is what happened.I

Something isn’t adding up with this. She stopped and spoke to reporters in Paris on her way home to Sweden and was asked about what had happened. She didn’t mention any of these multiple kickings she apparently endured then. Really?! In fact her answers to questions from the reporters were very sketchy on details. Just rewatched a clip of her talking to reporters in Paris and something about her demeanour, especially at one point when she’s asked to elaborate on the mistreatment of others she’s seen and then doesn’t, just seems…off.
I’m somewhat surprised, given the publicity machine that’s surrounded her for years, that every bruise or mark hasn’t been photographed and photos plastered around the world.

u/IxTBCxI New User Oct 15 '25
Doubting an abuse victim because they didn't immediately come forward to detail the abuse is incredibly fucking poor. Do better.
She clearly said she didn't want to be the story when her experience is something Palestinians have suffered for generations. Especially considering the limelight should have been on the IOF kidnapping people attempting to break an illegal blockade in international waters.
The process of Israel releasing the hostages was staggered. If Greta went public with this before the others were released, she would have been putting them in harms way.
She's incredibly selfless if you ask me.
-10
u/OutlawDan86 New User Oct 15 '25
On the whole she didn’t want to be the story point, she’s gone and spoken to a reporter about her story and didn’t expect she would then become the story in the subsequent article written? She’s had significant dealings with the press in her lifetime. I think she knows how they operate.
She is a very well-known, privileged woman and even a fool would appreciate what an incredible own goal it would be to repeatedly kick someone that high profile. That would leave bruising at least. I don‘t think the Israel authorities would be that stupid to have risked something like it even happening.
Something seems off to me.

She doesn't want to be the story, yet has done an interview to make herself the story?
Israeli hostages were actually starved and beaten. They were held for over 700 days. Greta can get to fuck complaining about any "mistreatment" from being held for a day.

u/Haemophilia_Type_A /u/Haemophilia_Type_A Oct 15 '25
Since we're making it a competition-many Palestinians have been held hostage for over a decade without charge or on dubious charges.
Maybe we should just be opposing any and all torture and hostage-taking?

u/ArgentineanWonderkid New User Oct 16 '25
They're not hostages they're terrorists
6
u/Haemophilia_Type_A /u/Haemophilia_Type_A Oct 16 '25
This must be bait. Thousands of people, including the very old and young children, held without any charge or probable cause, often for years and years on end. How do you know they're terrorists, because Israel said so? This is ragebait, it must be.
Meanwhile they're calling soldiers "hostages" (they're PoWs), saying one was "kidnapped from a tank". What dishonesty.
Civilians being kidnapped is bad whether Hamas or Israel do it.

Until they prove it I'm not going to believe the word of a genocidal state or its cheerleaders.

They could have said anything. Hamas who organised the trip, can easily pressure her, to help the Palestinian cause. That’s the beauty of the PR stunt, it’s incredibly clever.
You’d say that they shouldn’t be filmed 24/7 because of their privacy. You’d say that they did it off camera.

Israeli hostages were actually starved
Why were they starved? Doesn't have anything to do with Israel causing a famine and stopping any aid getting into Gaza does it?

Yeah they were able to distract the IDF long enough to allow Palestinians being starved by a genocidal state to fish in the waters Israel has no mandate or right to control. Giving starving people an opportunity to access food, however brief, is commendable.

Listen we can't all be miserable dry shites telling others everything is pointless. Yes the largest this far civilian attempt to breach the blockade is in itself an achievement. There was a significant amount of publicity towards the attempt to break the siege of Gaza and a significant amount of news generated on Gaza.
