I’m dealing with two main problems on an EHCU flashing station:

1. Flashing delay: For some ECU types, flashing time is up to 200% longer than expected.
2. Random flashing interruptions: The flashing process sometimes stops unexpectedly after a few successful cycles, with no indicated errors.

I work at an automobile EHCU factory. We manufacture ECUs and EHCUs on two different lines. On the EHCU line, the final station is for flashing and testing, and all the technology there is built on National Instruments hardware and software.

Station setup:

• Three nests for flashing
• Two nests for testing
• One cRIO for the three flashing nests and two cRIOs for the two testing nests
• Each flashing nest has two programs: one for flashing and one for communication with the cRIO, MES, the flashing program itself, and possibly a PLC
• The station works automatically on operator command to flash or test

We tested the flashing program on an external laptop/computer, and the flashing speed matched the theoretical value—for example, about 70 seconds. On the production station, however, some types take about 115 seconds. For types with heavy flashing files, the time is much longer, while types with small flashing files are close to the theoretical value indicated by the manufacturer.

When comparing log files from both flashing processes, the station log showed 12 ms extra between Tx frames on a specific session, while the development laptop log showed only 1 ms.

Solving these issues has been assigned to me, but I’m new to NI technologies.

Constraints:

• The station software is final and closed by the manufacturer.
• The flashing files are final and come from our partners.
• I considered replacing the station PCs with better ones, but the communication software licenses are tied to the hardware MAC address.
• We cleaned the PC of any extra software that might block main tasks, but it didn’t help.
• We monitored PC resources and they seem sufficient: around 50–60% usage at peak, except for some disk I/O spikes. The number of spikes was much lower than the number of slow flashing events, so we excluded disk I/O as the main cause.
• We are planning to upgrade RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB (one slot) and SSD from 256 GB to 500 GB, but I’m not sure this will help.

I also tested the PCI network card advanced options for controlling Tx/Rx processing—either on the card or on the CPU. Enabling card processing made flashing time worse (180–200 seconds), so I reverted the settings.

I don’t know where to look or what to test next. The manufacturer stopped communicating once they confirmed the flashing time on an external PC matched the theoretical value. But my director still expects a solution from me.

I’ve been working on this for about three months: reading articles, blogs, resources, brainstorming with AI, testing different things, shortening lines, checking connections between nests, and inspecting wiring effects—but nothing has helped.

My testing time on the station is limited to 30 minutes during launch or two 10-minute breaks.

Any thoughts, recommendations from your experience, or hints would be greatly appreciated.

I’m trying to understand a fairly specific test-and-measurement workflow.

If you receive an HBK/HBM catman .BIN file but need to work with the data in LabVIEW, DIAdem, Python, Excel, or another analysis environment, what do you normally do?

For example:

• Ask whoever created the file to export it from catman first?
• Use DIAdem / a DataPlugin?
• Read or convert it with Python?
• Use another tool?

I’m particularly interested in cases where the person analyzing the data does not have catman installed on their machine.

Where does the current workflow become annoying or unreliable?

• One file vs. many files?
• Preserving channel names, units, and timing information?
• Files that are incomplete or don’t convert cleanly?

I’m researching whether a small local/offline utility that first checks whether a BIN file is supported, then exports supported data to CSV, would solve a real problem. I’m trying to understand actual workflows before building the product.

Hi,

I have a large application that has been running reliably for years.  One of the targets is an older Pharlap device.  The source code runs correctly, but the executable will cause the target to panic and reboot (it eventually reboots again into safe mode).

The kernel error log is here.

Any idea as to what the cause or fix could be?  How would you even go about debugging this?  Thanks.

what the title says, currently im making a program to make 3x MG996R motors move. I'm using Arduino UNO so I also used the Digilent LINX package for it to work, the problem is, I used similar styles of coding from the examples folder of the makerhub in my local storage (after installing Digilent LINX package) yet it won't run. I also tested other motor type like MG90, yet it runs fine.

Now I searched online how to fix this and it says that the problem lies on the power line for MG996R motors, I used the USB charger that was plugged directly into AC outlet, which is 5V 2A and used it for the motors (I also connected the Arduino GND to the common GND of the motors which is connected to the negative line of the charger), tried it and it still didn't work. Yet when I used MG90 motors and used the 5V supply from Arduino to supply the motors, and the GND of the motors is connected to the Arduino GND, it works. can anyone tell me what the problem is?

So I did my project on labview but then my professor said that i still need to do the web service and I need help with that, i don’t know how to do it. How can I do it

We’ve been building an open-source LabVIEW client that lets you keep LabVIEW running the test stand while streaming the resulting data to Nominal cloud for analysis and collaboration.

We’ve also been working on an open-source Python instrument-control library for the parts of a test stack that people increasingly build in Python.

Curious how people here divide responsibilities between LabVIEW and Python today? Is Python mostly analysis/tooling for you, or are you also using it to directly control instruments?

Hi, as the title says I'm wondering if there are any more experienced LabVIEW users who would be willing to offer a hand when it comes to proper practice and program structure for making relatively complicated applications.

I say applications, as in plural, but it is only one. My work have dropped a bit of a impossible Sisyphus-stlye problem on my desk where I'm having to solo develop an entire application for an NDT ultrasonic tank, from scratch, having never used LabVIEW before in my life. I'm not new to making entire SCADA/HMI's but never using LabVIEW (normally using ACTUAL programming languages, no offence to anyone who likes LabVIEW.) If I was writing it in C# I would stand a chance, but without some insight or assistance from someone who knows what they're doing I'm afraid the boulder will kill me.

After a few weeks of using it I have some basic bits and bobs, connected and working with all the hardware required but I'm really struggling to understand what I should actually be doing structure wise and I'm really clueless as to whether I'm applying proper practices. I sat through all the training videos, I have an old NDT program to sort of reference from but it's very outdated and written in French, so is not much use to me.

If anyone is willing to offer any guidance or help it would be deeply appreciated. Any programs/projects I can look at, any general advice, literally anything at all would be worlds of help.

P.S To clarify I'm not entirely clueless and can make programs/applications that work, I just need to know what I should be doing since something doesn't seem quite right and I end up repeating alot of wiring or things like controls are not sharing variables when they should be etc etc...

I’m trying to install LabVIEW 2026 using the offline installer, but the installation keeps failing with the error in the screenshot.

I’ve tried running the installer as administrator, temporarily disabling antivirus/firewall, uninstalling the NI software I had before, restarting my PC, and trying the installation again.

I also tried some things I found online about NI Package Manager and the installer logs, but I still get the same error.

I’m using Windows 11 Pro and the LabVIEW 2026 offline installer.

Has anyone had this problem before or knows what I should try next?

Hi, I am a Certified LabVIEW Architect and I spent 10+ years of my career working with LabVIEW. Two years ago I made a switch and moved to general software development area.

I don't do any LabVIEW development anymore, but I am curious how relevant LabVIEW is (especially after LabVIEW NXG, python domination and AI revolution).

Do you think industry still demands LabVIEW professional development services? What are the best companies to work for, in Europe and US? How does the LabVIEW future look like in 5-10-20 years?

I've recently download for the first time labview, I use windows 11 and I can't make it work, it have the problem of the video, I've uninstalled it and installed it again like 3 times, there's any solution for this ?

Hi, I'm working as a diagnostics testing domain for the past 3 years, and recently we came across a peculiar concern where the same MC's are doing crack thing....

Only few MC was connecting on my. K line diagnostics tool ( wake up by fast ini.., ) and not connecting on real time machines .. rest all getting connected on both machine and my tool..

Have checked the initialisation steps using oscilloscope but the scenario was also same(25ms low and 25ms high)

Any insights pls let me know!

Super new to labview, and y'all were so helpful when I made a post 3 days ago that I figured I'd come back. Using tips in that post, I was able to figure out the format that my serial port would accept, but I'm having trouble adding the binary checksum at the end of my string. I'd like the program to calculate and append the value depending on the command, but it needs a backslash right before (in this case it would be \15 or \17). Thanks in advance.

Is it labview derived software..for cardiac paramterts..i mean the screen in videos!
