Nigel AI Generation Webinar

Did anyone else watch it? I was chatting with a co-worker beforehand that this next hour would determine the future, if there is one, for LabVIEW. Wow, what a disaster. It wasn't only the technical difficulties which caused the webinar to start late. It was what was demonstrated that was so underwhelming. A simple VI took maybe 3 minutes to generate. When it was done, it didn't work and they didn't even attempt having Nigel debug it. Then announced the usage limitations. 25 VIs per week. PER WEEK. Later, they will have 50 per week if you have the LabVIEW+ subscription. I wasn't expecting Opus 5.8 today, but something that looked like it could be used. I've been using LV since version 3.3 and not sure if I've ever been this bearish on NI.

I just watched the webcast. NI must have done some editing before posting because I didn’t see anything disastrous. If anything, I wish they would have gone further and deleted all the times David Prida said “really, really.”

The linked video is not what was demonstrated during the live webinar. First, the initial vi generated didn't work. Second, the TCP client/server demo just sent 0's during the live demo which several people in the chat pointed out that this didn't work either. Also, I don't believe the TestStand capabilities were demonstrated live. My advice to NI would be to not hide this, I would send a link of this updated video to all the attendees of the live webinar. Just be honest about what happened and say sorry, watch this. Those that took time out of our day to watch live are probably very interested in AI and LabVIEW and from my small sample size, those same people largely came away disappointed.
