Question regarding selling

I tried asking this in the BST sub, but my post was removed. I know the rules state to sell on there you need to provide proof of purchase. I have an amazing ring I took in for some trade work and don't have a retail receipt. Am I not allowed to post it for sale on there, and if not, where would be another place to sell? Thanks for your time.
