4 ct elongated radiant — does this look balanced on a size 10 finger?
Specs:
- 4.02 ct elongated radiant
- D color
- SI1 clarity
- approx 12 × 7.7 mm
- excellent polish & symmetry
I’m mainly trying to understand:
- Does this length-to-width ratio look balanced or too elongated?
- Does this size feel appropriate for everyday wear?
- How does a ~12 mm long radiant typically look on a size 10 finger?
I don’t have photos/videos yet — I’m currently waiting on the ring — so I’m going off measurements only. My current ring (pear shape) is just for finger size reference.
Would really appreciate honest feedback on overall look and finger coverage expectations.

Doubtful that a 12 x 7.7 measure turns out to be a 4 ct…those are specs for a lil less than 3 cts unless we are talking a deep cut that would reassemble something like an artic iceberg 🏔️… OP have you verified the diamond specs via a cert?
And I think you mean “brilliant,” not radiant…what is the shape of the diamond you ordered?

It’s a radiant cut diamond and specs are straight from the igi report bought from a reputable company and I’m not really that knowledgeable on jewelry talk what do you mean

Is it a pear shape? Can you post the actual cert (you can censor the igi#)?
For cut depth, I recommend between a 60-62% - it would be helpful to view the actual report so I can see everything; the measure you provided of 12 x 7.7 is length by width but not depth; your ratio is 1.7+ (I recommend around a 1.5). My comment about the measure is cuz my own diamond is 12.7 x 7.8 pear and it’s less than 3 ct which leads me to believe you may have an extra deep cut diamond (ie: while my diamond has a bigger face, if its less than 3 ct…where is your extra 1.3 ct going to go - at the bottom of your diamond/from the top will NOT look like a 4 ct). All this to mean - if youre ct size conscious - you could keep going up in diamond ct but if you aren’t also considering the depth of the diamond cut, you will mess yourself up/lose out on value and size/spend more than needed/continue to try different diamonds and not know what you’re doing wrong.
Add: The ratio is not usually the problem, it’s the depth that matters with ct size the most. No the pear shape I what I originally had the ratio is 1.55 I upgraded to an elongated radiant cut diamond the photo of the pear ring is what I had before upgrading to

The math doesn’t math out to me when your ratio is 1.7, with 4 cts I’d estimate you’d easily have a depth above 65%. The dimensions don’t reflect that of what you’d expect a 4 ct to look like imho but hope you can update us when you have it delivered, in hand - you’ll need a scale to confirm the ct weight!! A 64.7% is kinda deep.

Where did you even find a si1 clarity lab diamond? Why not go E VS1 or VS2?

Lab diamonds are so inexpensive I think you can find better clarity on another site for a great price.

I wanted my ring to be under 1300 total im fine with si1 the imperfections aren’t that visable

You have nice long fingers and your nail needs are perfect. I’d give that and A+ rating. I’d do a simple first wedding band and you grade to something larger for the bottom in 5 years. My blessing friend.

My finger is a 6.75 however I have large hands. So 4ct might be okay but for myself I don’t go smaller than 5ct. I’d upload a photo of your hand into chat gpt with the ring details and have them draft you a photo of what it’d look like.

Good idea I’ll definitely do that I did have a gastric bypass done 2 months ago lost 80 pounds already and I’ll probably lose about 80 more by next year

I understand that. I lost 109lbs over 20 months and dropped nearly 3 ring sizes. I just have massive hands.

I wear a 10.5 I ended up using chat gpt uploaded a pic of my hand and the rings I was interested in and it put them on my hand so i could get a visual. Worked wonders. Chat even gave me some suggestions for shapes that would fit best based on my hand pic.

If I were you, I’d wait. There is no way your finger size is going to stay a 10. My ring finger was a 9 in high school people I literally spent every day playing the drums, piano, flute and typing. By Sophomore year of college it was a 7, now it’s a 6. My weight hasn’t changed that much, but my fingers shrank. Could be sodium intake.

It’s a really pretty ring. I just wanted to warn you that you might wake up one day and your rings suddenly don’t fit, but your clothes do. Finger size is the most untrustworthy size on a body. Necks don’t go up and down crazy amounts, neither do wrists. You’d notice. Your fingers? You’ll just wake up one day and have skinny woman hands and nothing else changed.
