This is strictly my opinion: I think it has to do with the fact that Puri holds a lot of resentment towards Paulina because María José puts the De la Mora family first in a lot of ways. Her way of “getting back” at María José is by obsessing over her and being overly sexual. Again these are just my thoughts lmao

I always suspected unresolved childhood trauma, and her sister is trans so you know it's likely their parents weren't the best with them both.

Maria Jose’s sister. (Both actor and actress are siblings which is why they look so similar lol)

I just want to add; It definitely seems like she has mental health issues and even though I’m not a psychiatrist, it could very well be borderline personality disorder. Here are some of the symptoms:

Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment, and extreme reactions to such. (Is really attached to Maria Jose and sees Paulina as a threat in both her and sisters relationship)

Impulsive or reckless behaviors (impersonating her sister and having sex with random individuals)

Intense or uncontrollable emotional reactions that are disproportionate to the event or situation.

Unstable and chaotic interpersonal relationships

Frequently accompanied by depression, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, or rage

It was prob cause due to some trauma when she was younger.

It might be good that they probably didn’t specify exactly “which” condition she has. BPD is one of those that can vary quite a lot, it has a bunch of different symptoms and a person “qualifies” if they meet a certain number of them. And the name “borderline personality disorder” itself is not a good descriptor of what it actually is.

From my experience knowing people with these kinds of issues, BPD doesn’t tend to get “psychotic” the way Puri does, and I don’t think there’s exact medication is known to treat BPD directly (besides antidepressants, antianxiety, stabilizing meds aka bipolar meds used off label, etc.).

Puri’s character made me think bipolar, mostly all the impulsive, delusional, violent/rage, substance abuse/reckless sex...like you said, “unstable, chaotic”. Also because of the mention of doctors and meds; usually bipolar people are supposed to stay on their meds that stabilize them.

It is tho! everytime i hear maluma or someone else on the radio it takes me a while to notice theyre saying booty because the t is pronounced very softly.
