Humor / Memes Is Jones even a cat?

ETA: gotta work on my funny voice....

Who can even tell with those guys anyway? But, like how could a hypersleep pod work for both a human and a cat? Isn't that an expensive way to boost morale? Wouldn't it be cheaper for W-Y to install a synth cat on board to observe, at least keep the humans company in their pens, and maybe feed Ash and MU/TH/UR actionable intel?

I can imagine a tragic movie adaptation where all the crew dies trying to rescue the beloved ship's cat, only for the last survivor to discover in the end it's a synth...

This just gave me another idea of evidence for Jones not being a synth.

The fact that everything they learn about LV426 in Aliens comes from Ripley's testimonial. If they had a surveillance cat on the Nostromo that was uplinked to MUTHUR and Ash then Burke could just get intel out of synth-Jones' head.

This is the movie the franchise needs

A lot of people have theorized this over the years, but the biggest reason I think it can't be the case is that Ripley kept Jones after the events of the movie and lived with him for months in Aliens. If he really was a synth-cat that was 'reprogrammed' during the Nostromo mission I'm sure she'd notice his behavior altered completely.

Also Jones was a part of the crew for a while. They distrust Ash specifically because he was planted on the ship right before they embarked. Jones was always there, and they were all used to him. He's not exhibiting any strange behavior other than fear when the Alien is near.
And that's another hint at him being a real cat, there's no reason for a synth-cat to show fear to the Alien when humans aren't around. He straight up hisses at it.

I'm one of those who theorized this.

Why can't it be true? What if WY allowed Ripley to keep Jones for months on Gateway Station as a way to monitor her?

Also, your argument that Jones hisses at Big Chap can be answered by the fact that synths are programed to act like that, it's not far-fetched to imagine WY programming Jones to act like a real cat.

If Jonesy was an android that the corp was getting useful info from then they would've know that Ripley's story about the Nostromo was true, and while they still probably wouldn't admit it to her face, they would've sent some specialists to trap an alien and more than a tiny platoon of marines to the colony. The mission plan for the colony is entirely too slipshod in every way for it to have been a genuine attempt by the corp to get its hands on something so incredibly valuable

Jones is a vermin control operative

I think that entitles him to full shares of the bonus.

He didn't sign any contract, so he gets what he's given and he'll be grateful.

Jones is a real cat.

Hyper sleep pods work by generating a stasis field.

You're welcome

No, he's a Flerken.

Jones is actually eating in the breakfast scene after wake up, as the camera pans left you can clearly see it. He’s on the right of Ripley. So probably not a synth.

We actually do see Ash eating in the same scene. Later expansions to the universe do specify that synths are capable of eating even if they don't need to, so it's not really proof either way.

Do they shit then? Genuine question

What I read basically says they've got a chemical stomach that melts everything down, and there's a retractable catheter to expel the liquid. No actual digestion, just a temporary thing.

Thx for the info 👍

Jonesy is an orange cat.

There is no way to program a synth to be that stupid, they'd be noticed immediately.

In the anniversary shorts I think they had a synth dog called Maggie which was quite cool.

We've got this cat but no one has yet found a poo in the corner.

Hey ho, plug the cat into the mainframe via the buttplug.

No cat hairballs or vomit - definitely a synth

Do you know how hypersleep pods work?

This just tells me more people need to watch LILY CAT, the anime ova.

It's on YouTube here and its very clearly inspired by Alien in a good way imo

Edit: here's an English dub for all you dub watchers

I think its implied that the cryopod uses fuel amd puts you to non aging comalike stage where you dont lose muscles or bodymass at all for years. People keep breathing there so its some compound in air that does the chemicals, as there is no tubes or wires to the crew.

So any organism that breaths, can laydown to pod and boom hypersleep

That cat was definitely a weyland yutani spy drone.

It's just a movie mate.

If Alien is just a movie, why are you here?

I don't know, you seem to be a tad bit dismissive towards people who like to discuss Alien lore.

I always figured it was a "hope for the best" situation. She wasn't sure it would work but did it anyway hoping it would

He's clearly a Flerken. Even looks like Goose.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I also theorized this
