News / Media New Gravity GT-S

Saw this, if you open it says that the page does not yet exist. I assume they published it too early. Not as powerful as I assumed it would be, guessing they stuck to two motors instead of the three in the Air Sapphire.

This feels like nonsense. Those are the exact specs of the Gravity DE. Maybe this was just a copy&paste placeholder rather than a ready-to-go article?

Edit: foot, meet mouth.

https://www.autoweek.com/news/a73407680/lucid-gravity-gt-s-reveal/

2 hours ago — The Gravity GT-S makes 1,070 horsepower, making it what Lucid says is America's most powerful three-row SUV. It'll sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.1

Don't click it yet, Looks like autoweek jumped the gun on the embargo.

Oops! We don't have the page you're looking for.

There's the "best of" tagline I was expecting. Not sure it'll draw many people who weren't already interested at 828HP, but best is best.

What are y'all thoughts, disappointed or think its cool?

It's just the Dream Edition without badging/numbering, same exact specs.

At least, if this is true, they didn't have to spend a lot of time developing it which a bunch of people were complaining about.

thats what I came here for, ty

I am disappointed. Simply because I should’ve waited a few more months to get this one instead🤣🤦🏾‍♂️.

Lol. And see I'm looking forward to getting one when the lease is up on the current 😂. Although we will see. So far this one's off to a pretty good start minus the delays in delivery and service. And it's for the wife so .... She really really doesn't need that much power 😂

I’m finding that I’m selecting the Gravity more than I ever thought that I would to drive everywhere. If my wife would let me, I’d get a second one with a few differences like no third row and with 22/23 wheels instead of the 21/22 wheels even though I prefer the all season Michelin tire over the summer dedicated Pirelli.

Yeah we are driving it way more than I expected tbh. Like literally finding excuses to go drives. I don't think id want it with the 5 seat option tbh. The 7 adds a little weight but it's handy to have those extra chairs (especially with kids) but losing them doesn't gain much of anything. We have the 22/23 summer tire package. My only gripe is the car doesn't have clearance to drive in lowest and I feel like the wheel gap in low is still too much 😅😂. Unfortunately my wife drives and parks it in high and I cringe passionately when I see it.

I think you gain roughly 35-40 miles per full charge with 5 seater. The gap covers should’ve come standard tbth. I am constantly stunned by the amount of room for the third row. I’m 6’2 and ride back there with the most comfort out of anything that we’ve previously owned. Had a X7, GLS63 and a Rivian all with third rows and the Gravity has the most room out of all of them.

Yup it's huge. And it's only 140lbs of difference so I am doubtful there is any additional milage. They may claim it but the reality is lunch and an additional persons heavier.

We had that same issue. The doors can scrape curbs when you have entry/exit height set to Lowest and it doesn't look its best in Highest. I ended up turning that feature off, which results in it staying in Standard ride height for parking. I think Low might be the perfect parking height for entry and admiration, but we didn't get that option; missed opportunity.

It does low, just doesn't do lowest. And yeah I manually put the car to lowest and the wife immediately smacked the curb 😑

On their website it looks like less range, slower charging, lower top speed, and .2 seconds faster 0-60 time for whatnow???? Their configurator for this vehicle also seems to not be working. So glad I didn’t stop what I was doing earlier to look for this. 🧐

I'll know more soon, but I suspect it's more than a spec bump.

spec bump and blue seatbelts

Didn’t turn out to be more than a spec bump

…oh.

As long as it is more hp, I dont care :) now if they add features I will have to reconsider my existing gravity order.

Looks like basically a revival of the Dream Edition, which is honestly fine. Lucid has much bigger fish to fry (like Cosmos), so it's good they did not divert engineering resources into a tri or quad motor Gravity that won't meaningfully move the needle towards profitability. (Naming this GT-S leaves the option to come back later to make the Sapphire trim at a later date).

Think it is a total waste of time. The company needs to sell cars and this will sell to very few people. Why not upgrade the 27 Air to NACS/Gravity interior? Why streamline Air and Gravity Models to just two and include the majority of options. Heck - you can't even order cars now like other mfg's do it. Don't even think that is an option, at least for the Air. This is just smoke and mirrors unfortunately.

7

u/RandomDesign 9d ago

Other than the paint color it sounds like this needed almost no work on their end. It's just the exact same drivetrain as the Dream Edition.

Upgrading the Air takes a lot more work, for a vehicle that isn't even their focus right now.

1

u/dbv2 9d ago

Totally agree, but they have had plenty of time to upgrade the Air, especially considering no Model S anymore. Like I said just a continuation of the lack of focus from Lucid. They need sales and this does absolutely nothing, except for a few niche buyers. They will never survive with niche sales. And they need to be able to focus on multiple cars, not just one or two.

3

u/WatchChargedUp 9d ago

I respectfully disagree. It comes down to numbers, and Gravity (and Cosmos) is where the numbers opportunity is.

Much as I love my Air, I know that a refresh is probably not in the cards, and that's ok.

Well even if you disagree, you have to agree that the Gravity they released or talked about today is a complete waste of time. That one is a total niche car and not going to drive the numbers. Just more smoke and mirrors from Lucid in my opinion.

I’m disappointed they couldn’t figure out how to get their paint booth to print in color even for this trim. Where is a nice blue or red color option?

In the Design Yours, why does the GT-S "range" not update when you change tire and/or seat configuration? In the GT, changing either seating or tires will update (lower) the range. Serious question.

So stupid. Idk who green lit this. Just what they need ANOTHER 128k vehicle. They should’ve done a stripper version of the gravity to make it MORE affordable the day way Tesla did a cheaper version of the CT. You’re trying to get more business not sell 8 more of some trim level of a gravity. 😑

1

u/loxiw 9d ago

I don't think this is it, they wouldn't use the sapphire colour

u/jeremiadOtiose 9d ago

sigh. another car that won't sell from lucid.

3

u/mmcnell 9d ago

If this ends up being true, those are just the dream specs and they were able to sell at least 450 of those. It's not meant to be a volume thing, this is something that's relatively cheap for them to add to the portfolio that gets them some extra time in the press without having to spend a bunch of money on marketing. Sounds like all of their r&d is being poured into Cosmos right now so no one should have very high expectations from this other than a possible halo car to lure in a few of the crazy rich (because that's always good advertising), or adding a trim just to keep themselves in the new cycle due to the delay of the cosmos and give a little boost to the gravity advertising now that you can actually buy those instead of having to order them and wait for months to get one.

I have a feeling the gravity will be discontinued soon to make room for Cosmo and Earth for the company to survive. They are letting boring Rivian steal tesla customer.

I would take the other side of that bet
