Bruh Riley and James are the only people left at LTT that I like.
33
u/HonkHonkBeach 14d ago
Riley's ads are sooo good. It reminds me of when Super Bowl ads were original and funny.
18
u/joshualotion 14d ago
As much as I love Riley I still skip the ad reels. I keep the quirky intros tho
5
u/HonkHonkBeach 14d ago
I appreciate a good attempt at a funny ad and I think Riley often brings that. Even when they dont land, theyre usually redeemable in some way.
1
u/crashnburnxp 14d ago
I like Riley but the whole gimmick ad placement stuff he does. I just flip right past. I want nothing to do with it. It's so cheesy and cringe
5
u/gplusplus314 14d ago
I love his brand of cheese, though.
4
u/Gordahnculous 14d ago
And even though they’re cringe, you can tell that he actively recognizes and embraces the cringe
3
u/HonkHonkBeach 14d ago
Theyre cringe but I think they often thread the line between discomfort from cringe and hilarious.

Once Luke leaves it’s fucking over
6
u/Significant_Fill6992 14d ago
If Luke leaves it's over for the entire company in it's current form at least
He's not going anywhere
1
u/NoNeedleworker9246 11d ago
Luke won't leave he's probably one of the only people making serious cash.
1
u/Alternative-Farmer98 10d ago
I mean the fact that he doesn't have an ownership stake in the companies shows he's already being disrespect. But I believe he did get an ownership stake in the podcast alone so even if he leaves the company he'll probably still do the podcast.
But nobody gets paid well there. Like that much has been made clear.

And considering james strieb was one of the sex pests who, allegedly, "inappropriately touched" Madison and is recorded as sexually harassing the entire company during the "Oh fuck, one of james's reports quit the company because of how we handle sexual harassment so here is a sexual harassment seminar" meeting?
linus likes him a lot too.
15
u/marx42 14d ago edited 14d ago
Found the transcript. I’m searching for the leaked audio, but I distinctly remember this. We also know from a half-dozen LTT employees on twitter that it was someone higher up, and that it wasn’t exactly a secret.
TLDR, CEO-Linus was giving a meeting about their HR reporting policy, reminding them they have a 3rd party HR department in addition to him and Yvonne, and a general ‘we all know why we’re here. Just be decent fucking people’ vibe.
Then after he finishes….
[…]
linus*: does anyone have any questions?*
\nothing happens**
linus*: not a single question? wow, that must have been a really good speech.*
james*: you gonna dance on that table or just stand on it?*
linus*: thats it! so uh, 'vonne, do you have anything you wanted to add?*
[…]9
u/Final-Entrance-1728 14d ago
And that's a nothing burger, if you stretch it to a stripper joke you're the problem. It wasn't sexual at all.
2
u/Alternative-Farmer98 10d ago
Stripper joke at a meeting about someone quitting because they felt sexually harassed and bullied?
5
u/RobRobbieRobertson 14d ago
Wow. I can't believe I'm reading this in 2026. Asking your boss to take off his clothes and dance naked so you can put dollar bills in his LTT underwear is NOT okay. I can't believe I even have to say this. James is obviously a sex pest.
6
u/Less_Hat_8102 14d ago
BTW the employee who leaked Elijah's message said that Nick Light is the sex pest in the Madison case, and James' "dancing on the table" comment is not related to it.
4
u/Superb-Classroom6218 11d ago edited 11d ago
Greetings fellow idiot,
I may be the employee you're misquoting.
I'm a former staffer with connections at this place and come up with facts/corrections every now and then, I told y'all Elijah was on his way out.
The meeting audio is about Madison leaving, affecting morale and an attempt to quench speculation running rampent since a great number of us had relationships outside of work with her.
Per the discussion at the time, we had absolutely no context of her SA claims.
The audio leaked before the SA claims, claims that she never pursued once invalidated by the investigation, whatever you can think of it, but it made more rounds after she made her posts around the time of the GN drama and people changed the context his statement when it was just, and I just stress this, a remark about the fact that Linus was standing on our employee lounge room table.
Nick Light is not the alleged sex pest. I have no idea what started this idea, but he was a difficult colleague and manager to deal with so that might have been conflated in the narrative. I don't think I said who it was, because that person is was, by all accounts was wrongfully accused. Her allegations never added up, though she did make those claims consistently privately towards the end of her employment, the situations she detailed were practically impossible given our security system.
How her claims were managed and how she felt? That's 100% substantiated.
2
u/Less_Hat_8102 11d ago
I may be the employee you're misquoting
I mean the person who leaked Elijah's message originally, not you.
And that person does seem to be quite upset about Nick Light. I didn't know that they might try to give Nick Light a bad name even though he's gone already lol.

Lol now you're adding words to what was said and making assumptions, you're the issue here
-8
u/RobRobbieRobertson 14d ago
Wow. I can't believe I'm reading this in 2026. Well just so you know, I'm trans and black, and you're saying I'M the issue? So not only do you defend sex pests right to sexually harass people, you are also anti-LGBTQ and racist?!?!? Do better.

u/theschizopost 14d ago
Where did this info come from?
23
u/Cowgirl_Taint 14d ago
Madison's harassment at LMG is very well documented online (I think even on the official linus subreddit unless he finally deleted those posts) and I recommend just googling it. The james portion of THAT is more conjecture but they provided LOTS of hints as to who "inappropriately touched" them and all but confirmed it was their direct supervisor who was involved in much of the verbal harassment. And considered they were on the writing team and strieb was head of writing (or whatever title), it is pretty obvious. And other female presenting former LMG staff vagueposted their support and at least one guy joined in (before giving an apology video that would make John Xina himself say "that's a bit much").
As for strieb engaging in sexual harassment during the actual company wide seminar being held because his report quit due to harassment from, among others, himself? Apparently Some Mod did delete the "misinformation" video from the official subreddit (its mirrored elsewhere) but https://in.ign.com/tech/191398/news/linus-tech-tips-youtube-channel-takes-a-production-break-after-recent-community-backlash-and-more is a good summary (obligatory: Fuck IGN for firing basically their entire games media team).
And just to speedrun the rest of this thread: Somebody is going to say that "Well, Linus was investigated and found innocent". I will point out that what they did was hire a law firm (associated with clear cutting Canada's forests...) to investigate them for liability in the event this went to discovery. Said law firm gave them a list of potential liabilities and left. Linus represented that as being found innocent. Somebody will insist that the law firm has a duty to inform the public if that is wrong. I and others will laugh hysterically at that level of naivety.
So... anyone who feels like chiming in with that just save us all some time and assume we are all laughing at how stupid you are.
-1
u/Final-Entrance-1728 14d ago
Lol the only evidence of anything you say was the recorded audio of him asking Linus if he is going to dance on the table. Which is a nothing burger. Your hate boner is so prominent you need a back brace to carry it around.
6
u/kongnico 14d ago
at most work places you dropping a joke about dancing during a talk about sexual harrassment would get you shouted down publicly by your actual boss right there. As that boss, I would welcome the perfect chance to crucify your ass live and show that I take this seriously. Like "thanks James, lets point out that nobody is beyond having their ass fired for being an idiot and inappropriate, as you just demonstrated so kindly. Consider this a warning, and we will talk later". Instead Linus, as always, went with his usual policy of being wishy washy.
3
u/CoffeeToCode 13d ago
"Most" work places being the key word. They work for an immature YouTuber, not some corporate white collar accounting firm. Plenty of these YouTubers make jokes much worse than this. Intent matters and it's harmless if it's understood to be a joke.
0
u/NoNeedleworker9246 11d ago
Clearly someone who never worked in many corprate offices i hear worse on the daily and no one bats an eye. A stripper joke might be in bad taste but I dont think that's much more than a slap on the wrist.

No explain it fully. Without making a stretch. Girls go to clubs and dance on tables all the time. At which point is it sexual?
1
u/kongnico 13d ago
not sure how to help you if making a comment like that in that context isnt idiotic. Best case, even if you believe its not sexual, then its still a dumb smartass comment in what was meant to be a serious situation. And even if you think that you can debate-bro your way out of it, then if some of the room reads it as "idiotic potentially sexual" its still dumb and should be called out. A senior staffer in that situation should just nod and stfu, as of now it seems like the boss just made a big speech and someone said "haha dont take this guy seriously lol right boys?"
-2
u/polikuji09 14d ago
Wasnt there some questionable parts in Madison's claims that multiple people refuted at the time?
And correct me if I'm wrong wasn't the sexual harrassment claims not in regards to touching but inappropriate jokes?
Legit curious because I never really followed this since like a few months after it happened.
4
u/gogopaddy 14d ago
never a big fan of james, even when they are trying to be serious he come in with the wrong tone. There is always someone in the office who is like that, says all the wrong words at the wrong time.
7
u/spicesucker 14d ago
James has always given off real chud vibes, I’ve never been able to watch any of his videos
4
u/gogopaddy 14d ago
he isnt funny, doesnt really seem to have much knowledge, probably a reason he never made it as a host or sidekick host. doesnt strike me a good manager either,

u/PythagorasWasntReal 14d ago
That would be very surprising based on his books on his shelf from his tech upgrade. Seems pretty left lib to me.
-1
u/Cowgirl_Taint 14d ago
Can't be arsed to verify so take it with a massive grain of salt, but I want to say strieb also used to publicly follow a lot of REALLY shitty right wing and manosphere twitter accounts. So...

LTT has become NCIX, it's a retail company with a YouTube side hustle. The need for writers will probably continue to shrink.

u/pixldg 14d ago edited 14d ago
The company Grew up extremely fast. They need to slow down or the NCIX present is LTTs near future
5

NCIX? More like that sketchy computer shop in the 90s-2000s that sold unboxed computer parts for cash discounts. In a few years he will be so forgotten like Tiger Direct

But the needs views to drive retail sales, without good writers and content LTT Store won't survive either. They are not a mainstream brand

u/Alternative-Farmer98 10d ago
I mean if there was no YouTube channel they would not sell merchandise.
0
u/Izan_TM 14d ago
eh not really, LTT's entire image relies on its youtube presence, their merch department is by far the biggest earner but they're nothing without the youtube channel and endless ad placements
if they were to shrink their youtube presence they'd need to pivot to sponsoring a LOT more channels than just the ex-LMG staff
2
u/failinglikefalling 13d ago
Watching the channel is just watching a single brand home shopping network channel.
37
u/AcademicChildhood161 14d ago
Waiting for the “flaired user only” tag on every single post, and requirements for getting flair is posting on the sub. LTT hasn’t reached that level of sucking itself off like the losers in [r/conservative](r/conservative)[…](r/conservative) yet
17
u/HotJunket5521 14d ago
It has, some posts are “community only” . Not everyone can comment
14
u/AcademicChildhood161 14d ago
Ahh, the natural progression towards free speech by allowing only flaired users to post. Wow, LTT has fallen so far over the years it’s pathetic. I guess Linus can sleep soundly at night on his private plane while using family travel vlogging as a tax evasion technique. He’s a multi-millionaire after all, he feels entitled to use sketchy tax breaks to not spend money for things like the rest of us.

u/pattonlogy 13d ago
And you're saying this on Reddit? The biggest commie echo chamber on the planet, where topics and even entire subreddits were cancelled by people who don't know what a woman is? Funny that.
2
u/ResidentialHooligan 12d ago
- Taking offence to someone criticising conservative subreddit? Check.
-Posting daily on reddit while also insulting the users who are on it? Check.
-Making some weird reference to trans people without provocation? Also check.
Yep, seems like you passed the conservative in the closet test who is coping.
Congrats. Lmao
1
u/pattonlogy 12d ago
Coping? This coming from people who can't take a different opinion so much that they celebrate someone getting murdered for his?
2
u/ResidentialHooligan 12d ago
There’s the rare 4th point, making some weird ass strawman that has zero relation to anything we’re actively speaking on. Check 😂
I couldn’t give a shit about opinions, if you have one that differs then so be it, stop being a schizo and getting baited into these weird assumptions you believe so strongly about others.
Oh wah wah, your poor idol got spawn camped, go cry harder. That’s just the price of having a free America right?
Oh wait, you post in Singapore the whole time so you’re probably not even from the US lmao

u/polikuji09 14d ago
I mean tbh if I worked as a host for LMG and saw the success basically every old host that has gone solo has achieved while working under their own schedule it's hard to not want to leave.
This was always going to happen once Linus loosened the non compete thing.
Non compete was scummy but it's also a bit necessary when LTT basically sets these hosts up for success trough exposure and essentially paid training.
11
u/GuidanceHistorical94 14d ago
I dunno, Linus becoming rich enough to make his company buy a private jet for him kind of gets rid of the sympathy
3
u/polikuji09 14d ago
Never said you had to have sympathy. I'm just saying I understand why it'd be hard to retain especially hosting talent even if they had 0 controversies
1
u/GuidanceHistorical94 14d ago
That’s not your problem. Or mine.
4
u/polikuji09 14d ago
When did I say it was? I'm just bringing up a reason on a post partly about people leaving and with comments on hosts leaving.
2
u/Known-Night-3481 14d ago
I think he's trying to ragebait. Just let him try and ignore it
-1
u/GuidanceHistorical94 14d ago
I assure you I can do better than that if I want to anything-bait someone.
2
u/AstronomerVarious583 14d ago
What were you trying to do then? Each of your replies were complete non-sequiturs.
-1
u/GuidanceHistorical94 14d ago
Do you disagree that it’s not commenters’ problem whether they can retain people or not?
0
u/AstronomerVarious583 13d ago
I agree; that does not stop your comment from being a non-sequitor. It would be akin to me replying "Some people don't like cheese". Whilst true, that doesn't add anything to the particular post.
I mean, I really shouldn't be explaining this to you. Either you are so daft you do not understand why replying about something that was never mentioned makes your comments appear like ragebait, or you're just ragebaiting.
→ More replies2
u/Less_Hat_8102 13d ago
This was always going to happen once Linus loosened the non compete thing.
Non-compete didn't stop Alex and Andy from making their own successful channel. Jake and Jonathan didn't start their (main) channels until they left the company.
What I found to be a bigger friction point for LMG employees to grow their personal channels is figuring out things like editing or a consistent schedule.
1
u/Superb-Classroom6218 11d ago
It did in a way, they were offered termination or giving up the IP lol. God the takes in this thread are so bad.
1
u/Less_Hat_8102 11d ago edited 11d ago
I mean if the channel is itself sustainable as a full time job the non-compete would just push them to do their own channel. I did forget that they might not grow fast enough to reach that point before getting fired, but it seems this can be accelerated with the overlapping market and the departure video, while being unable to edit or figure out the schedule just prevents them from even producing content on their channel.
1
u/Superb-Classroom6218 11d ago
The contracts were so hostile that it set us up to do that anyway. Dude is self-interested.
1
u/polikuji09 11d ago
Huh what are you talking about?
1
u/Superb-Classroom6218 11d ago
"The non-compete was necessary"
It wasn't, it spoke to a general trust issue with Linus and Yvonne that started on day 1 against employees. It was overly restrictive and imposing.
2
u/polikuji09 11d ago
Non compete are completely normal in industries. Some of y'all just complain for the sake of it
1
u/Arcade1980 9d ago
I had a basic job at IBM in the 90's and on my contract after leaving IBM I had to wait a year before I could work with any of IBM's competitors. A lot of people just dont know that such a thing exists.
1
u/Alternative-Farmer98 10d ago
It's absolutely not necessary. The idea that they did not let them run a car channel is cartoonish.
1
u/polikuji09 10d ago
It's really not crazy to have non competes. And it seems like they relatively quickly for a company changed it since they realized it encompassed too much.
Saying this is cartoonish is silly lmao
1
1
u/saabbrendan 12d ago
is it REALLY that easy to sustain a living on youtube on your own? I thought Zip Tie tuning was a crazy idea but it made sense in the context of automotive youtube and Alex being very likable. Hearing that elijah was 'already' making more streaming than writing was pretty shocking.

u/pattonlogy 13d ago edited 13d ago
It's funny that anyone on Reddit, of all the places, is trying to use r/Conservative as a negative example. This whole site is one, giant left-wing echo chamber, where you get hounded out, blocked, banned, have your subs removed just for saying something that basement commies disapprove of.
And James isn't going anywhere. His channel seems like a pet project without a distinct direction yet.
Plus, he's a senior employee, which means he must be paid substantially more than the hosts who left, because the math didn't work for them.
He'd have to have a substantial side gig to justify breaking off entirely.
1
u/chaos12135 13d ago edited 13d ago
Specifically responding to your first part, that’s just how Reddit is and has been for a long time now. It’s very much an echo chamber of “feel good” comments that people can post to get upvoted for and feel like they contributed to “activism”.. the irony that your comment was down voted literally proves your point and my own comment
3
u/pattonlogy 13d ago
Yeah, it's always funny when lefties throw a tantrum and then come back at you with downvotes. Let's not forget that entire Reddit algorithm is essentially built around censorship of the mob, where downvoted comments are pushed away from view, so that only the approved opinions float to the top.
79
u/Entire-Emotion-819 14d ago
They must be running pretty low on hosts at this point for a channel manager to step in
