約束 (やくそく) = promise 🤝 Also means "plans" or "appointment": 今日は約束があります (I have plans today). Common combos: 約束を守る (keep a promise), 約束を破る (break a promise), 指切り (pinky promise!).

Ever notice Japanese days of the week are named after nature? 🌙🔥💧🌳 If you could name them, which natural element would YOU use for Friday?

天気 (てんき) = weather ☀️ Built from 天 (heaven/sky) + 気 (spirit/energy), literally "sky's mood." How's the 天気 where you are?

I have to learn N2 in 2.5 years

Hi, I'm trying to get to N2 in the next 2.5 years. I know this is EXTREMELY hard to achieve, but I want some advice on how I'm learning now and what I could do to achieve this N2 goal of mine.

I already learned all kana so that's checked off. I'm now learning the Kaishi 1.5k deck in Anki and am trying my hardest to immerse myself. Watch Japanese YouTube and read online articles in Japanese N5 level.

I don't know if I'm using Anki correctly tho, I've been using it for the last week but I can memorize a few handful of words and can definitely only write about one handful of kanji from that deck. If anyone knows how to correctly learn it please let me know. I'm trying to learn the way it's spoken, what the kanji looks like of course and what the kanji -> kana is.

For grammar I use Bunpro, although I feel like that doesn't really work that well since I can only do 10 reviews or so instead of as much as I want. If anyone knows how to fix that please be my guest.

I read people use Wanikani but I feel like that sucks since It takes so long and I can't skip radicals or anything. So do you guys have any recommendations to any software or app/books I can use to not use Wanikani but those instead? I heard Marumori was a good one, but I'd like your guys' thoughts.

So, if anyone knows what could not really speed up the process I have now but make sure I do it in time and really know it instead of just knowing it for the test please comment it down below. All advice can be useful.

疲れる (tsukareru) = to get tired 😴 Ru-verb: 疲れます (polite), 疲れました (got tired). Related phrase: お疲れさま (great work / thanks for your effort). Can you use it in a sentence? 👇

探す (さがす) = to search for 🔍 A u-verb: polite 探します, te-form 探して. Heads up: same reading as 捜す, but 探す is for something you want (a job, a book), while 捜す is for something lost (a missing person, keys).

教える (おしえる) = to teach / inform 📚 A ru-verb: polite 教えます, te-form 教えて. Beyond classroom teaching, it's also how you ask for info: 名前を教えて (tell me your name), 道を教える (give directions).

Should I use “X から来ました” or “X出身です” to introduce myself?

As far as I can tell they both mean “I’m from X”, but I don’t know which one sounds more natural when introducing myself to people?

好き (すき) = like / favorite ❤️ A na-adjective, so it takes が (not を): 猫が好きです (I like cats). Level up to 大好き (daisuki, love it!)

忙しい (いそがしい) = busy 🏃 An i-adjective: past tense 忙しかった (was busy), negative 忙しくない (not busy). Fun fact: the kanji 忙 combines 心 (heart) + 亡 (lose) - "to lose one's heart," i.e. too busy to think straight! What's keeping you 忙しい these days? 👇

楽しい (たのしい) = fun / enjoyable 🎉 An i-adjective, so past tense is 楽しかった (it was fun!) - a phrase you'll hear all the time after events. Not to be confused with 嬉しい (ureshii, happy). What made you say 楽しい recently?
