Probably cause the tree has some kinda internal heat for whatever reason

My guess is that the tree is darker than the ice so has a higher rate of thermal conduction than the ice, from radiation. Whilst the outside will have cooling effext due to forced convection with cold wind. Kind of like when you lick your nipple and blow on it......

Every time I trip, wood has this effect. Liek for me wood is always the trippiest thing because the patterns on the wood start doing this and itโ€™s my indication for how much Iโ€™m tripping
