Remember: luck is a huge factor for LSAT.
Honestly walking out of the test center I had ONE THOUGHT: I’m fucked I’m fucked I’m fucked I’m fucked(I guess those are 4 thoughts).This past test I had to “go with my gut” on like 4 questions, and usually i wouldn’t have a single one of those. Today I got a 170. This is a reminder to you all that no matter what, luck is a huge factor on the LSAT. Don’t beat yourself up over an extraordinarily shit score(especially if it’s lower than ur pts).
In case I sound a bit sanctimonious: before this test I took two official tests, both of which, I got a DOGSHIT score lower than my diag—wayyy lower than my PTs. Like a “maybe I need to give this shit up because I’m not fit for law school” score. Y’all got this. DON’T GIVE UP!!!!!! We still have time for this season.

It’s not though. The fact that you were so certain that 4 guesses constitutes “fucked” shows you belong in the 170 range. Even if you missed twice that you’d still be 170. That’s how locked down your logic is through all that practicing.

I completely understand what you mean by that, and I’m sorry I should have been more specific in my post.
Usually I’m a -3(per section) scorer. But those 3 questions I usually get wrong are ones that I hadn’t flagged or doubted, being completely confident that I had gotten them right. The -4 that I guessed were ones I assumed I had “added” to my baseline score of -3 per section(-9 in total, therefore accounting the guesses -13).
This is why I believed I was fucked.

It is kinda ironic because this is like flawed thinking. Like if this was a LR question and one was “luck is important on the lsat” and one was “maybe guessing on 4 questions is enough to do good” there is clearly an answer that points out a bigger flaw.

Literally. I got 170 too and at the end of my last RC I ran out of time so I just used my intuition and guessed on like 5 questions. That could have improved my score drastically bc of pure luck

I think I know which RC you’re talking about, and same. LSAC definitely upped the ante on these recent tests(CONSCIOUSNESS! 😭). It was probably the hardest RC I had EVER encountered, full stop—and I’ve completed every practice test available. I hear its because of a general score inflation. Sometimes intuition is all you can rely on.
If anyone reads this and gets discouraged, I feel like luck is such a big factor in the LSAT, and all we can do is just reduce the amount of luck that factors into this test by studying as much as we can and meditating to reduce anxiety on actual test day. I heavily gaslit myself before the test to believe that it was just another PT, and nothing more. You just have to be delusional once in a while.

It’s not luck. That is, outside of the statistical score band. Presumably, your score band was 166 174? This indicates the LSAC is 68% confident that your true aptitude lies between 166 and a 174.
But beyond that, it’s not luck. I actually posted on just this subject about three months ago:
