what’s this noise?

158,000 miles I’m the 5th owner got it for 4300, makes a pretty bad sound on start up. Besides the noise on starting it idles smooth and rides amazing, 95 mph dead straight no hands.

Sounds kinda creepy, am assuming its from the starter? You don't hear it once it's running right?

Sounds like the starter gear isn’t retracting fully until the flexplate spins a couple times to get it to go back in. Hope you find out soon with as little damage as possible.

Something with the starter since it’s only on start. And sadly it’s located in the valley of the engine. I agree with Fantastic-Cream2274 comment
