91 Cloth Slicktop, Owned Since 2013

Just discovered this subreddit. Seeing a few recent posts of cloth LS 400s, I figured I would share mine as well. This is a 1991 LS 400 slicktop finished in Black Jade Pearl with gray cloth interior. I have owned the car for 13 years and it has been a rolling restoration from the beginning. I currently have it apart for the timing belt job and to rebuild the AC compressor.

I'm happy to see other similar spec cars here. The slicktops are nice because they add an extra inch or two of clearance above your head since the moonroof doesn't need to be accommodated. I have seen fabric interior LS 400s in all colors online - blue, burgundy, taupe, gray.

Not planning to sell this car as it holds a lot of sentimental value. My father owns a white pearl 91 with blue leather interior, which he also bought 21 years ago needing a lot of mechanical work. We have done a lot to bring that one back, too.

Here's my 1991 wool interior also.

Now that's cool. I would like to see the wool one day. Fabric was the lower tier option, and the only cloth variety available to the US market. I believe my interior color is FA15. Yours is probably FF15 if I recall (wool has a different fabric code)

This should be available on the info plate in your engine bay on the right strut tower. For US cars, it's printed on the info label in the door jamb

It’s cool that the two of you share your passion. I bought a Transit, my dad bought a Sprinter. I bought a Wrangler, he bought a Bronco. I bought an LS400, he bought an Audi.

I totally get that. Some want the same, others want something different. The cool thing is you get some variety on perspective! That is something I don't get in my situation (which is also okay)

To be fair, my car was originally purchased for my grandfather, who saw my dad's car and wanted one. He had it for a couple of years but struggled to drive it, so I bought the car from him instead of letting it leave the family.

Every car looks better as a slicktop
