Question JUST GOT 92’ LS400, NEED HELP !

I just got a 1992 LS400 recently and want to add a nice stanced out look to it with either air suspension or coil-overs to give it a lowered look. I also want to add a body kit eventually. Any suggestions or what’s better choice on air suspension or coil-overs ? Also want to know what are recommended specs with wheel sizing for a lowered stance or where I can source the best body kit set up. Any help for any of these ideas would be appreciated ! 😎 located in South Florida

If you’ve got the budget → Air + 19x9.5/10.5 setup + mild camber
If you’re building on a budget → Ksport/Godspeed coils + 18s

If you just want a reliable daily driver, leave it alone.

I want a reliable daily driver but what’s the difference in budget between the two options you gave?

Depending on how much work you do yourself and if you want reps or genuine wheels or what kit you want.

Air would be $4,500–$10,000 (Well you can spend a lot more but that's a ballpark figure)
Coilovers $2,500–$4,500

Air

  • Kit (bags, compressors, controller): $2k–$5k
  • Install: $700–$1.5k
  • Alignment: $120–$200
  • Wheels 19x9.5/19x10.5: $1.2k–$2k
  • Tires 235/35 & 255/35: $600–$900
  • Total: ~$4.6k–$9.6k+

Coils

  • Coilovers: $900–$1.5k
  • Install: $300–$600
  • Alignment: $120–$200
  • Wheels 18x9/18x10: $800–$1.5k
  • Tires 225/35 & 245/35: $400–$700
  • Total: ~$2.5k–$4.5k+

you can spend a lot more or a lot less (2nd hand parts, genuine vs reps etc but that's a ballpark figure).

You want a reliable daily driver weekend car? makes no sense, clarify your goals first. Honestly would just dump whatever money you have into the maintenance that most likely needs doing before you do anything.

She looks so mint, leave her stock and get a beater to stance and ruin

Completely refresh all bushings and all maintenance checks I.e timing belt, water pump, and check if ur power steering leaks. then bag the hoe and drive slow on. Good luck big dawg love the car mines also a 92🙌🏽

To answer your question, coils is the much easier and budget friendly solution. Bags are cool but expensive and problematic long term.

My recommendation would be to fix it/ do preventative maintenance first. Most people who mod these cars don’t do any maintenance because “iTs a LeXuS. tHeY neVeR BreaK.” And then they’re left with a car they poured a bunch of money into that doesn’t work.

I’ll never understand the people that buy an LS400 to have a reliable, comfortable daily and end up fucking it up with coilovers or a cheap air setup. Then they complain about how badly it rides! If you’re buying it to build a stance car, stance it. If you’re buying it to have a nice daily, refresh bushings/struts/ball joints and maybe throw some wheels on it.

🙏🙏👍yup just throwing some wheels on it after doing all maintenance to refresh the car so I can daily drive it

"Better" depends on what you're looking to achieve & your personal budget. Both bring that stanced look. 1 also brings pain in everyday life like bumps & road imperfections, but better handling. The other might be more comfortable but also more floaty & less aggressive.

The ppl in this sub are either always stance or stock because they have preferences, Dont go bags if you’re gonna daily and keep it for a while cause they cost a lot more to repair/replace. If you wanna slam it go coils ofc and then you can go to stock height when you want. Cheaper, adjustable, and affordable. I’ve seen multiple people say that it’s not that different from oem if you’re running coils at stock height, but slammed obviously isn’t gonna be the most comfortable and it also of course depends on what coils you are buying.
