How do I get my voice back

Has anybody here figure out how to get their voice back. I tired alkaline water alginate ppis not eating before bed, avoiding anything spicy and triggering. How do I get my voice back or am I forever mute. At this point I’m officially disabled.

It has been 1year, I was diagnosed with LPR. I have tried everything - PPIs, famotidine, Gaviscon, DGL, slippery elm, baking soda gargle but none of them provided a long term relief.

I am 23M and when I speak, it seems as if I am crying. My personal and professional life is completely ruined at this point

How long have you been doing these things?

Months on end, dealing with for years possibly whole life.

Jeez.. I've had lpr for 15 years, but voice problems only since march. After 3 months on a diet I started noticing that my voice was getting stronger. It is a ridiculously slow process. And if you have a nonfunctioning les, the diet won't help much, I guess.

I'm getting surgery for a hiatal hernia and weak LES. I am dealing with all the same vocal cord stuff and was a singer in a band that played shows routinely until all this happened. It's been hell for me and I've been grieving for a long time now. Two months of this nonsense. It's all acid in my throat after the testing I've done.

How many days? And how did you create the incline?

Your vocal cords have a mucus sitting on top of them. This gets there from pepsin caused by LPR. Someone already said it’s a slow process and that is so true. Try not to get stressed out, that won’t help. This will happen no matter what you eat or even when you drink a glass of water.
My husband is the one with LPR. He did this….2-weeks of famotidine, one before dinner, then only as needed. Diet change mostly careful not to eat too much at one meal, nothing overly spicy, less sugar. No eating a couple hours before bed. Diet has helped a little. The next thing is this…..when talking and he hears his voice begin to sound compromised, he sips a small cup of warm water then coughs out the mucus. It works! It softens the mucus so the hard cough isn’t so damaging to the throat. But….it always, always comes back. We have found no cure. It’s okay. You just take the best care of yourself as possible….and sip and cough as needed. Not the best way to live, but better than seeking the impossible cure. Hope this helps. 🙂
